Does anyone know whether the Russians re-use their Soyuz capsules? To me capsules are adequate as emergency escape vehicles but not ideal as a regular earth to orbit and orbit to earth vessel for crew rotation. The Russians have had their accidents with the soyuz capsule on more than one occasion resulting in the loss of life. Something the shuttle bashers have ignored.

The Russian Soyuz is made of three modules; the reentry vehicle is the only one to reach ground.

The main module is designed for 30 days in space. It was to be replaced by the Kliper, a partly reusable craft (kind of shuttle looking), but that has been canceled for lack of funding. The Russian are working on a Lunar orbiter and the supposedly the Soyuz is getting an upgrade so it'll be good for up to one year in space.

Here's a quote from an anonymous travelers blog:
ok bratko. I just saw a soyuz reentry module earlier today in a museum. Tight fit for 3 cosmonauts. I thought it was bigger.

Looks like the reentry modules go to museums.
