Space rocket ripples meet sun dog

I've been reading this forum for some time.
I have on my iGoogle page the "NASA image of the day" gadget and today I came across this beautiful, yet strange event.

You can notice in the video the launch of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), the strange thing is that the ripples the rocket created where:

1. Pretty damn noticeable.
2. They "killed" that poor sun dog.

I would really like to find out from the more experienced why these 2 events took place . Thank you !
