You know that face Homer Simpson pulls at the sight of food (with the drooling). That's me, while reading:

/>They often take accredited press thru an OPF as part of an orientation tour<

"Hmmmm, O.P.F....."

Interested in 'walking' around Discovery at pad 39B and seeing how they handle the payloads, just before they close the doors, we she's vertical?

Go to http://insideksc.com/ and follow the link from the front page. This is a great site run by a KSC worker

Depends on timing. I won't get into Orlando till the 11th....taking into account I gain (minus) five hours on the timezones, an on time arrival is afternoon. Get a hire car (warning to anyone in Florida - with me and the wrong side of the road driving) get to Rockledge, dump the stuff off at the hotel and then I'm free.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I was reading the SDC lead article about TPS repair as an 'impossible mission', and I wondered if any consideration was given to trying to develop a 'cover' for the wing leading edges on the ride uphill?

I'm not sure how such a system would be attached, but it would seem to me that the devlopment possibilities could be greater than those for trying to find a viable hole repair method.

There is also the weight penalty of course.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Needed to bump this up. I'm nervous waiting around for this stuff. About 48 hours to go. Godspeed.

Edit: Oops wrong thread, oh well 2 threads at this stage can't hurt.

I think the way the mods wanted this to work was, this thread for STS-121 and the new thread for STS-114.

I read this thread as being the one to discuss RTF activities in (obviously!). And, I took that to mean discussion of mods, Stafford-Covey, etc. ie, anything not related to nominal day-to-day running and launching of Shuttle.

Now that we are essentially back to nominal operations, I think najaB started up the new thread to reflect the 'business-as-usual' launch.

I imagine there will be additional discussion in this thread that flows out of '114 into operations for '121 but much of what is occuring with '114, with respect to inspections, etc, will become SOP down the line anyway.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

In reply to:

Two days before launch... launch day will be a zoo.

I've already started sleep-shifting to get on EDT for launch! It's a reasonably friendly launch time in this part of the world (just before 8am Thursday morning), but I don't want to miss any of the 'pre-game entertainment'.

If they scrub, I hope it comes early in the time-line. Could be late to work also, if the boss is reading!

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

*bump*

Thought I would call this thread back up to active duty again, now that we are likely to be in a 'limbo' period and refining the new RTF issues on the back of the foam 'failure' with STS-114.

I'll kick it off with a question. Has anyone seen a broad outline/timeline of what will be happening now with the ET foam issue? I assume they are obviously working the problem, but has anyone peeped up with some thoughts on how long/who/what course of action yet?

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!
