I'm dying here... can someone please make a joke or two about this incident?

Braycote 601 packed in tube, then evacuated, leaked back to ambient, or somewhat close to and then exposed to a lower pressure. ISS outside amosphere should be < 1.0e-5 Torr.

That is a very good thing...special EVA tools are very valuable. Apparently there were wipes and grease guns etc. but special tools. This might slow down the following EVAs since they will have to share the remaining bag.

Replying to:

What happened to scribble notes?
Posted by Testing

There really wasn't much news there. I guess I should write it up anyway, eh?

I'll try and do that when I can.

From what I recall, tasks are all ahead of shedule.

"Station flight engineer Sandra Magnus and her predecessor Greg Chamitoff moved the port and starboard crew quarters to the station and installed them in the Harmony node. They also installed a rack with equipment for return to Earth inside the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module.

Other crew members also continued moving equipment and supplies between the two spacecraft. Transfer of all of the phone-booth-sized racks planned for this mission has been completed. Transfer work overall is about twenty five percent complete.

Former Expedition 6 station resident, Endeavour mission specialist Don Pettit and Expedition 18 station commander Mike Fincke spent a bulk of the day configuring hardware on the new Water Recovery System. The facility will treat wastewater and provide recycled water clean enough to drink. The system will be activated for initial checkouts tonight. It will take about two days of initial operations before the first sample of water processed from urine is available for testing.

Later today, the crew members will prepare for the second of four spacewalks by gathering tools and reviewing procedures. Subsequently, spacewalkers Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper and Shane Kimbrough will begin the standard pre-spacewalk campout in the station’s Quest airlock.

The campout will begin at 10:20 p.m. Piper and Kimbrough will be in Quest overnight, with its pressure at 10.2 psi compared to the station’s 14.7 psi, to reduce their systems’ nitrogen content. That is to avoid the possibility of decompression sickness.

Endeavour’s crew is scheduled to go to bed at 11:55 p.m. CST today and be awakened at 7:55 a.m. CST Thursday. The spacewalk is set to start at 12:45 p.m. CST Thursday.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Monsters.
Couldn't say that I didn't see that coming. With new equipment like what they've got, there are going to be issues.

On a side note, I'd like to see one of their drivers they use on EVAs. From what I've heard, you can set them to turn a specific number of times and set very specific torque, ect... Sounds really cool to me. I suppose my choice insturment, the hammer-drill, would not be best for this application. :)

Can anyone tell me if I saw Endeavour passing over California last night? I was at a friend's place in Castro Valley east of San Francisco and at about 6:15 PST IIRC, we watched a bright light move from the west towards the east until it faded out after passing directly over us. I watched another Shuttle pass over California years ago and this object seemed quite similar in its flight and appearance.

In this article
http://www.cbsnews.com/network/news/space/current.html

I read :

/> During the first spacewalk Tuesday, Stefanyshyn-Piper lost a $100,000 tool bag
/> overboard. Two of the crew's grease guns were lost

You said in a previous post there was no tools in the bag.

My first question : was the lost bag (and stuff inside) really so expensive ?
and second question: did the astronauts have enough remaining grease to clean the SARJ race ring and to lubricate both SARJ ring when it is cleaned and the ring of the other rotating joint (to prevent any issue).?

They lost 2 grease guns. I believe they did have enough. They used wipes to apply the grease instead aswell as the spare guns
