No movie with Jodie Foster in it can be that bad. And I thought it was very good over all. One of the few movies that actually looks at the bigger issues of SETI.

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke

I would have never guessed their were this many Flash Gordon fans. I wouldn't say the movie was lame because as stated, it did live up to the original concept but it is dorky.....even if in a good way.

I'll say it a little differently: no book by Sagan could be bad. I liked Contact the book very much, although I think it was too long. I like what Sagan did with Alien Contact--something that is rarely done well. It was Sagan calling Kip Thorn about a viable method of FTL that started all the scientists looking at wormholes. Kip called his friend Hawking and that whole industry got started.

The movie was good because it was so frustrating.
