V2 rocket: Origin, history and spaceflight legacy

When I was a Tech Engr at P&G back in the 70's, I was trained and qualified in weld inspection. I didn't weld, just inspected. I could reject welds and they would have to be done over.
In 1992 I happened to be in Munich on business and my host took me to an aviation museum there that has a V-2 on display. The access panel was open and I was free to look inside. The welds were beyond reject, just horrible. Lack of penetration, undercut. The were either made by untrained people or someone deliberately making them bad.
