Where did spin casting mirrors technology come from?

I'm trying to find out who originated the spin casting of telescope mirrors in glass. I came up with this idea in 1971 and tried to work out the details. Did someone else think of it too?

I would have thought the idea was very old, spinning glass to make crown glass sheets was first done in the 14th century, dunno who first applied it to telescope mirrors though.

According to this webpage, the process for really large mirrors was developed at the University of Arizona.
