Science gives us everything. It is the foundation of so much that we learn. If you prove something exists; it exists. Disagreements or arguments are the method in which all of us learn new ideas. It is essential we all continue to disagree while keeping an open mind.
Earth is not the center of the universe. If an intelligent lifeform wishes to observe us and remain hidden there is little we can do to stop it. Our science in this scenario is primitive and it is rendered useless. Again, in this scenario we can rely on credible witnesses if we choose to do so. We can also ignore them. Yes, the government is the only source of information on UFO'S, UAP'S and reverse engineering. They have the information and when we ask them for the information they have only one answer: classified. The public has a right to know the truth in a free society. Ironically, most of the credible witnesses against the military, come from the military. It's a backlash they cannot stop, The floodgates have opened. The good news is that congressional hearings will continue again and again and again. Another hearing is scheduled soon, possibly next month.

Always we search in the skies and the heavens for signs of life on other worlds. And we search for intelligent life. Why do we search? We know its out there.

Gelis-Filho correctly points out our limitations. ULTD is real. Even colonising Mars and creating fusion reactors are beyond our capability, beyond the limit set by nature.
In my opinion, there are intelligent aliens, and most probably, they will resemble us. Human brain represents the zenith of evolution. Super intelligent beings/AI is just a fiction.

most of the responses focus on hardware technologies / the physical realm.

there is an alternative, if we accept & nurture it.

the development of a science of the mind / thought
has been sidelined by concentration on the physical,
ridiculed as fantasy &'pie in the sky'
and stifled by superstition & organized religion.

something to consider?

Yes we can change our "nature".

We have been doing it for some time. It is called "socialization". And the norms for what we consider to be "civilized" are slowly excluding destructive behaviors such as slavery.

The trend is toward a less violent and less exploitive group dynamic.

But, we have a long way to go before we are going to be able to live here or anywhere else without causing damage that eventually endangers our own existence. Our "nature" is still highly exploitive of other species and resources.
