On building a vessel:
The Saturn-V was what it took to get 3 men, a CSM and LM to the moon for landing. A total of about 45 tons. The Saturn could put 100 tons give or take a few to LEO.

Of course, if you launched 35 Saturn-Vs with base equipment and crews to the moon, including some kind of return vehicle, technically doable but costly. And keep in mind, the cost barrier is a barrier that was put up by the public (With much media assistance) and politicians who want a share of the government pie for their interests.

This is about the best give or take a few tons that we can do with chemical rockets with one exception.

Getting to LEO. If private enterprise is able to crack the cost barrier at LEO, the rest can fall like the proverbial dominoes. Getting to LEO is the worst part of the cost equation.

Spacetels, good play on words...I called them Orbitels in a graphic novel I wrote.

My borrowed quote for the time being:

There are three kinds of people in life.
