If Casey had the slightest interest in finding Caylee, it would have manifested itself within MOMENTS of Casey realizing Caylee was missing. Not  WEEKS later. And obviously, CINDY KNOWS THIS.  Cindy has also known Casey all Casey's life, and is well aware of just what she has spawned in her loins. I suspect Cindy had numerous warnings regarding her lax parenting of Casey, and could not have been bothered.  Now that a capital crime is apparent, Cindy is squirming and contorting to paint a 100% false portrait of herself as a mother and a grandmother.    And, BTW, where is Caylee's dad, and what does he think is going on ???    <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!So many people, so few recipes !!Let's clean up this stinkhole !! </div>

This sounds like a case where someone has just lost touch with reality and gone off the deep end.  It's either some sort of weird disconnect/fugue/Munchausen thing or she wigged out somewhere along the way and did something really irresponsible with her child and is now covering for it.Most "sane" people don't kill their kids. (Newborns in dumpsters excepted.)  It doesn't sound as if there was a history of physical abuse here either although an accidental death involving that can't be ruled out.The whole thing with the grandmother and the mother perpetuating a lie is very strange though.  That sort of rules out the various mental problems I suggested, depending on how it's working for her.  Given that she maintained the illusion the child was still with her, it may be that she believed she would be able to eventually find/retrieve the child.  I'm wondering if she didn't give the child to someone she knew for whatever reason and that person has taken off with her.  That would certainly leave her in a bad light in the eyes of her own mother and would definitely be irresponsible if she didn't know the person well enough.I'm thinking it might not be the fictitious person she claims but someone else close to her that has taken off with her child and she's trying to cover up for it but give them the chance to drop the kid off somewhere to be picked up.Then again, I'm armchair quarterbacking this something fierce.  I'll reserve judgement until more is known. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> I put on my robe and wizard hat... </div>

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/07/22/national/main4283005.shtml?source=RSSattr=HOME_4283005 I know that the ACLU and other "PC"-type people would say that it would infringe on people's rights to reproduce.....but, I swear there ought to be some kind of test that people would have to pass before being allowed to have children.  There are exams that one must pass to be able to drive a car.  Doctors have exams to pass before they can practice medicine.  (etc, etc)   I know that tests are not perfect and they wouldn't weed out all the potential murderous mothers and fathers, but maybe it would save some children from being killed by the people that are supposed to love them most.   There is a canine and feline adoption society I work with that has a three page interview that potential pet owners must answer satisfactorally.  Then a member of the society visits the home to make sure it is safe, clean and has room enough for the pet the people want (no Great Danes in an efficiency apartment).  Potential pet owners go through a fairly rigorous process to just adopt a cat or dog through this society....because they want the pet to be well cared for and to reduce the chances for abuse or neglect.We should do the same for children.    Sorry for the rant....it's just heartbreaking to see these kinds of stories.    <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> In the book of life, the answers aren't in the back. The police handling of this mess is very insulting. Insulting ?? Yes, insulting. To folks who put more care, craftsmanship and skill into their own murders, but nevertheless get caught. I don't claim to know all the particulars in this case.  I prefer to have those people who have boots on the ground and who are working directly with evidence report their findings to a jury before I really start considering true guilt.But, it seems that since the "O.J. Trial" any and every news agency jumps through hoops to plaster whatever they can concerning whatever "human interest" murder case they can hype on the screen.  There are entire shows devoted to this and even a TV channel..  But, how much of any of this is responsible reporting?In your post, we have a news agency who are supposed to be duty bound to "reporting" the news, actually "creating" the news instead.  They've hired a specialist and prop them up on the screen to "deductify" on the case.  This person isn't testifying in a court of law, they're testifying in a court of opinion.  Worse, they're creating opinion.Is it "Right?"  This grandmother may be completely innocent and have no knowledge of anything not already released about the case.  All the body-language guru was able to say was "knowlegdge of something she has not revealed"right?  What exactly does that mean?  Dose grandma have to go to the bathroom and didn't tell anyone?  Did she just pass gas on camera and hope nobody finds out?  How pertinent is a "body language" expert demonstrating their craft on television concerning a case where very little of the facts are known?  It's a "body language" expert, not a mind-reader.  How many people watching the broadcast would be able to intelligently tell the difference?
