...what would you think about their ability to send real probes in the darkness of universe? ....

Actually, I think, IMHO, they did a pretty good job of sending a probe into the darkness of space.

So you admit they (NASA) did send a probe into the darkness of space?

BTW, how do you know if the speeds quoted are relative or absolute values? Personaly, i would think they are relative values, relative to earth, but i could be wrong, someone else might know better. I don't have the time ATM to look into it.

BigBrain…If you leave your house and go to the local store that is 4 miles away and the posted speed limit is 30 MPH and your car’s speedometer reads 32 MPH how fast are you traveling?

If you are driving down the highway at 65 MPH and toss a baseball forward at 40 MPH at what speed would a stopped police officer’s radar show if he was to clock the speed of the baseball? Would your car hit the ball before it hit the ground?

If a helicopter hovers at 300 feet how long will it take to travel 200 miles?

Finally, if a car is going west at 10 MPH and a car is moving east at 10 MPH what is the closing speed for these to cars? What is the departing speed of the car going west after they pass? If you were standing at the point where the cars meet what is departing speed for the westward bound car? For the eastward bound car?

"petepan - BTW, how do you know if the speeds quoted are relative or absolute values?

All speeds are relative".

Not at all.
All objects turn around the sun in our solar system therefore their speed has the sun as reference point.

"All objects turn around the sun in our solar system therefore their speed has the sun as reference point."

Although velocity would be a more appropriate term as opposed to speed.

Which takes us back to that pesky Kepler guy again.

Targeting bodies that can be specificly placed at any specific time due to their orbits makes hitting one much easier.
"2012.. Then, you define it's "speed" as relative to it's reference point of the Sun.

So, even though I was jokingly stating that "all speed is relative" you reply by denying my statement in one sentence and then absolutely supporting it in your followup.

Bigbrian, what medication are you on? I suppose, in the case of Temple1, even at those collision velocities, most of the energy emitted from the impact was likely Thermal, or possibly near IR.

That's a bit hard to see with the naked eye, BB.

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

"and so their speed is measured relative to the Sun. Hence their speed is relative".

If you measure speed relative to a fixed point (the sun) your measure is absolute.
If you measure speed relative to a mobile point (the earth) your measure is relative.

If you measure speed relative to a fixed point (the sun) your measure is absolute.

That sentence contradicts itself.

Btw, the sun and hence the entire Solar System is also in motion through the Milky Way Galaxy, and with respect to every other star.

Another null argument, BB. Bigbrain:

You never took a single physics lesson, didn't you?

Why do you assume the sun is "absolutely fixed"?
The sun moves in at least two different ways: Rotating with the milkyway, and expanding with the Universe.

All speed are relative, except light speed, and some people argue that light speed is relative too....

steve:

I'll think about your last explanation.

Regards,

arit

"We will either find a way, or make one!" - Hannibal

well it's obvious he's trollin' because he refers to his "fans" and his "view count" all the time. This is the ONLY way he will ever get his name known...I guess he took it too seriously that you should court *any* attention....because he missed the point about guarding your reputation at all costs.(The 48 Laws of Power- Robert Greene and Joost Elffers(sp))
