I recently saw Farscape for the first time and I really really like it but I must say it reminds me alot of Blakes 7. Does anyone else think this or am I crazy.

I was a Farscape fan, but never heard of Blakes 7. I'll look it up and see if I can spot similarities

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

Sure, there are some simularities. Small ship that has a guiding mind, though superior fire power when matched one to one, flees evil federation, mismatched band of escapees. More back story in Blakes Seven, I thought.

wow, hard for me to find a non-print work of scifi completely unknown to me. this is the first in a loooong time. the logo, spaceship and screenshots dont trigger any reliable memories.

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

Yeah it is kinda obscure. It was created by Terry Nation the man responsible fore the Daleks in Doctor Who. It lasted between 3-5 years I think (Althoug I could be wrong) It is also brittish so that could be why as well.
Obscure it might be, but the Plots, and the whole atmosphere put anything lower than maybe B5 and ST.TNG to shame.

INCLUDING, though it be blasphmey of the first order, ST.TOS

Shows are always bound to have some simularities but I will check it out. I never saw it myself but I am a raving fan of Farscape.

I don't recall the name, but it seems like there was a sci-fi memoribilia mail order company (In Colorado?) that had a great deal of Blakes 7 merchandise available. I had the "Teleport now, ORAC" bumper sticker on my old Ford Mustang and I only recall a single occaision when someone approached me and new what the reference was to. I think I saw roughly half the episodes that were made, It wasn't too bad, somewhat more budget than Dr. Who. Servalan was a great villainess, Terrent reminded me of Chekov (ST:TOS). I think eveyone died in the final episode.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

I saw a few early episodes of Farscape and to me it seemed a rip off of Blake's 7. That was a wonderful series, great ideas, great stories, great acting, some wonderful ironic lines.

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke

Yep, they all died except Avon. It was a real shock. But Paul Darrow as Avon was brilliant, as a ruthless freedom fighter to both admired and felt contempt for the idealistic Blake.

Jon

Whether we become a multi-planet species with unlimited horizons, or are forever confined to Earth will be decided in the twenty-first century amid the vast plains, rugged canyons and lofty mountains of Mars Arthur Clarke
