Interesting that they have found roon in destiny for the Regenerative Environmental Control Life System, I though it was going in node 3. I wonder what was moved.

I think the LED lights would have to be a nice improvement over the current lighting.

Anyone know the difference between a space LED and a normal LED?

Besides the price.

All right, let's all play nice, okay?

I also find the suggestion of replacing Elektron intriguing (although part of me would prefer to augment Elektron instead; it's nice to have some redundancy in the system). I'd like to know more about the new system. I believe Elektron vents waste products to space; what will this do for carbon waste? How big will it be? I doubt it'll be big enough to completely displace one of the large experiment racks, so there should still be room for more experiments in Destiny. The beauty of Destiny's design is that it is so modular.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

is designed as backup to the current Russian Elektron system and will be installed in Destiny

I misread it they are keeping it there and just using the new system as a backup, at least until the primary malfunctions. From how they’re describing it it’s a much more complicated system. It can recycle the waste water into drinking water or burn it into oxygen. It seems like a priority that should have been established in the first US assembly. But I guess its better late then never.
Ah, thank you for aiding my reading comprehension as well.

I think something like this was intended for the US segment as well, but due to the repeated reorganizations and cancellations and various other shifts in the plan for the US segment, it's kinda bounced around where it's going to be.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

"It can recycle the waste water into drinking water or burn it into oxygen. It seems like a priority that should have been established in the first US assembly."

I recently saw a demo of it. Of course most people balk a the idea of drinking urine. However, the system makes the water soooo pure that we actually have to add vital minerals back into the water!

I agree, with Elektron as a backup to the Regenerative Environmental Control Life System (ECLS) and oxygen candles as a backup to both then there is a really robust system in place.
