At my wifes request, I carried a couple of suitcases full of pictures/files/personal valuables into base this morning. I have one of them over the walkway, the other is much heavier....ack....

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Well, I agree with your wife. If there's one thing Ivan has proven it is that he is an unpredictable SOB. And dangerous to boot - has any other storm been Cat 4/5 for so long?

I hate to tell you guys this, but...there may be another one on the way. The NHC issued a "Tropical Disturbance" advisory earlier today. It'll probably be a depression by afternoon, centered near the northern Leeward Islands and the sea temps are still 25-30 degrees.

I saw that when I was looking at the track.

Ack Ack!

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Lol, Thanks Calli.

I got home today and found 10 gallons of water in my kitchen. Also my school's open house tonight was cancelled so that we can prepare for the hurricane. Like DrWayne said, looks like they moved track just a little east. I'm on the very edge of the path, but we're still weary of it...just in case.

Well, they have decided that the Tropical Disturbance merits being labeled a Depression - TD11. The depressing thing about 'Eleven' is that it formed almost exactly where Frances did. The 72 hour models put it in the Bahamas as a Cat 1 hurricane.

I noticed the notices on it.

We are getting closer to that stay/leave decision. 5PM track is still darn close to right at us....horse shoes and hand grenades close.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Schools canceled until further notice in my area. I think it is a bit premature, but I'm not arguing.

School is cancelled here too. My 10 year old is heart-broken....just kidding.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Its been a couple of years since I have been over there - I live 98% of my life between Navarre and Eglin, but I think to be somewhere in the 1/4 to 1/2 mile range. I don't know what the elevation difference is though.

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Not real far from my companies building in Shalimar, there is a road, Meig's Road, with a low stretch that floods out real easy...

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

The models seem to be moving back west, many of them passing through the other side of Mobile Bay. Wouldn't suprise me to see the NOAA track back where it started today in the morning.

Cool source of a lot of data:

http://www.crownweather.com/tropical.html

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

Camille was down to 909, and may have been lower.

There are a lot of people putting great stock in Ivan weakening. I can just say, I hope they are right...

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

The storm track has moved more to the west again. All today it was said that Ivan will hit in Florida. Now it will hit in Alabama. BTW I am now under a Hurricane Watch.

I saw it, pretty much going up Mobile Bay. Interesting, as that is not that far off of where it was this morning...

The models seem to be converging a bit too...

Wayne

"1) Give no quarter; 2) Take no prisoners; 3) Sink everything." Admiral Jackie Fisher

This is getting a bit close to my home...

They say we will begin to feel hurricane winds within 36 hours. Interesting.
