That second biggest rock to the right-center looks like it has a white fossil. Body, head, and three legs protruding downward. It looks a lot like the water bugs that I used to catch when I was a kid.

--- Jatslo

Nice find Jatslo. Take a look at 2P162854488EFFAL5M1. There is a square green bush in the lower right-hand corner. Here's another, in 2P164183634EFFAL5M1 in the upper left-hand corner there is a blade shaped rock. I can't be sure but it's either a hand-tool for skinning the hide off of Martian cattle, or, it could also be a Martian tadpole.

Can I see a close up of the three legs please?

--- Jatslo

1P163783157EFFL5M1

Does anyone else think that the rock shown in this image this looks quite similar to the WopMay rock in Endurance crater??

Edit: I mean with respect to the cracking and how it looks like it may have expanded a little to give a similar look to WopMay

2P162851709EFFAL5M1.9

Yeah, I got the same kind of resolution with my software too. I wonder if Spirt can sniff for the mineral calcium. Calcium would suggest fossils, if past life on Mars evolved like Earth life forms evolved.

I live in Oregon, with lots of fossil beds, and the pic looks like a fossil to me.

Who knows? Any word on calcium on mars?

The brittle, white material in chalk - a form of carbonate - may seem rather ordinary, but finding carbonates on Mars would have some extraordinary implications. The discovery would provide strong evidence that liquid water once flowed on the Red Planet. Such carbonates might also harbor the fossils of ancient Martian bacteria.

--- http://nai.arc.nasa.gov/news_stories/news_print.cfm?ID=198

You all need to pay very close attention to all that chalk like material floating around oppy and spirit. Serious folks are hoping to stumble across exposed fossils or fossil like minerals in or around rocks.

--- Jatslo
