Title: A Grounded Perspective: Getting to Know a Non-Space Enthusiast in a Community of Stargazers

Hello, space enthusiasts! I'm excited to introduce myself as a newcomer to this fantastic community, although I must confess that I don't quite fit the mold of a typical space fan. My name is Romaclanahan, and I'm here to share my story and learn from all of you, despite not being passionate about space myself.

A bit about me: I'm a curious individual with diverse interests, ranging from literature to music, and everything in between. While my friends and family might be gazing up at the stars, wondering about the mysteries of the universe, I'm usually content with keeping my feet firmly on the ground. Don't get me wrong; I appreciate the beauty and complexity of space, but it's not something that sparks my enthusiasm.

I stumbled upon this community while exploring online forums, and I was impressed by the wealth of knowledge and dedication displayed by its members. Although space isn't my cup of tea, I respect the passion and curiosity that drives you all to explore and discuss the wonders of the cosmos.

As someone who doesn't have a strong background in astronomy or space-related topics, I'm eager to learn from your experiences and gain a deeper understanding of what makes space so fascinating to so many people. Who knows? Maybe through our conversations, I'll discover a new appreciation for the subject or even develop an interest in certain aspects of space exploration.

What brings me joy is connecting with like-minded individuals (or in this case, differently-minded individuals) who share their thoughts, ideas, and expertise. I believe that everyone has something unique to offer, regardless of their interests or passions.

In this community, I hope to find opportunities for meaningful discussions, ask questions without fear of judgment (since I'll likely have plenty!), and perhaps even contribute some alternative perspectives or insights from outside the realm of space enthusiasts.

So, please feel free to share your stories, experiences, and knowledge with me. Ask me questions about my non-space-related interests if you're curious! Let's build bridges between our different worlds (pun intended) and foster an environment where everyone feels welcome to express themselves.

Looking forward to getting acquainted with all of you!

Best regards,
Welcome to Space. If you want to interact with others, then join the conversations, on a multitude of topics, in the forums. Or, even start your own thread on an appropriate space/science topic.

Have fun.

I'm an old guy who is on the cusp of retirement. I've always love science, I was 10 years old when we landed on the moon, and am fascinated by space/the universe. Particularly the size of it. I am saddened that so many Americans have accepted the enormous amount of misinformation and pseudoscience being shoved down their throats by people only interested in getting rich.

You'll be pleased to learn you're not old. ;) I'm not, and I was 16 when I watched Armstrong imprint Moon dust. There are other members here in their 80s, at least one that is active, anyway.

Hi folks, Stevie here!

Wanted to pop in and say hello to you fine people! I’m one of your new Community Managers. My background is in Scifi online games, I’ve been working with CCP Games on EVE Online and off since 2007. I was also part of the launch team and CM for VR rift launch title EVE: Valkyrie, worked with Star Citizen at UK meets and Insomnia Gaming Festival, which is a fun gaming event here in the UK.

In my spare time I enjoy streaming games, watching scifi and collecting supergirl merch. I’m also an ambassador for SpecialEffect, the gamers charity. SpecialEffect work with people with disabilities, developing controller set-ups, eye tracking tech and working with developers on accessibility in games (which is also a passion of mine).

I’m really looking forward to working on these forums, and chatting about Space and sci-fi in its many forms. I really enjoy working with passionate communities, and am 'over the moon' (Lol) to be able to be working with you folks.

Feel free to reply with anything you’d like me to know about you! If you wanna reply with your coolest bit of Space Swag, that would be awesome!

This is me in my Space Industries NASA jacket, which I love more then anything.

Hi, I'm Claudio. I'm a retired chemical engineer and computer software developer. I'm passionate about physics, and during Covid, I started writing a scientific speculation on a cosmological model I call the 4-Sphere. I'm also learning to play the guitar, and now my main job is being a grandfather to my little granddaughter."
