hi i am new around here and i am 16 yr i love space since i was a small kid. i hope one day i become a big space watcher for some big space Astronomer. ok now live in a nice house and every thing but the thing i want the most is a telescope. i went to some stores and looked around and all of them cost so much and my mom dose not want to spend money on it. so but i want to look at different planets the closest thing i see is a satalights. so i am starting something new i do not know if it will work im geting a bounch of not good binoculars like the ones u can buy at the dollor store 10*15<-- 10 times 15 small ones and i wanna brake them in half so i have 2 zooming parts to it. and connect them and make the zoom better and better by attaching more parts to it more and more parts of binoculars to it. well im asking will this work i all ready started with 2 parts of 10 times 15 or what ever it was and it works very good. i was looking at the moon and i saw more then i saw with the parts attached . look at the attached file for better pics

We all appreciate your enthusiasm (and keep at it!), but one thing you should try to do is basic punctuation and sentence structure.<br /><br />What you wrote is hard to read, and follow. periods and capitalization go a long way, as well as shorter sentences (or any at all!)<br /><br />welcome to SDC. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p align="center"><font color="#c0c0c0"><br /></font></p><p align="center"><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">--------</font></em></font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">----</font></em></font><font color="#666699">SaiphMOD@gmail.com </font><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">-------------------</font></em></font></p><p><font color="#999999"><em><font size="1">"This is my Timey Wimey Detector.  Goes "bing" when there's stuff.  It also fries eggs at 30 paces, wether you want it to or not actually.  I've learned to stay away from hens: It's not pretty when they blow" -- </font></em></font><font size="1" color="#999999">The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"</font></p> </div>

Combining two halves of a set of binoculars that way would indeed double the magnification HOWEVER:<br /><br />1. You would have trouble keeping them lined up, particularly if you used more than two units.<br /><br />2. The focus could be a problem too.<br /><br />3. While the image magnification would double, the light gathering ability wouldn't change. This is important - to get a look at planets the telescope needs to have a wide diameter to gather more light, because the light is "diluted" as it is magnified, with the image getting dimmer. In other words you can keep adding stages and increasing the magnification but you won't get a much better picture.<br /><br />4. You can do a lot of cheap astronomy using just a plain pair of binoculars - a 10x50 set would do you very well while still being relatively cheap. I'm pretty sure you'll get better results using a pair of binoculars as they come, rather than trying to cut them apart and build a telescope.<br /><br />5. If you really do want to build a DIY telescope there are guides and tutorials on the 'net but to be honest it's quite an undertaking and I wouldn't recommend it to somebody without a fair amount of experience in fine-quality machining.<br /><br />So get a decent pair of binoculars and if you get bitten by the astronomy bug, it's time to get a part-time job and save for a modest telescope!

Why don't you bring this up with your science teacher at school? If you show an interest in something like this, they might be able to help you out.
