Let's wait for manned missions to Mars for the following reasons:
1. Time. Chemical rockets of today cannot propel any craft to speeds other than a 6 month or so journey. That's a terrible long time for any trip anywhere psycologically.
2. Radiation. The dangers of the space environment are very well known to humanity and any such trip is not worth the risk for many health reasons.
3. Reliability. Anything can happen to a spaceship and there will be no one to fix a possibly catastrophic scenario.
4. Food, fuel and other supplies. Simply to much to load aboard.
There are other reasons. NASA and commercial adventurers should just wait until there is a craft that can reach Mars in just a few weeks or less. Just wait. Continue to send robotic probes as many as you like.
