Well, at least you are entertaining, I must admit to that anyway.

Yes and nATM.

By going over this thread and seeing just what side of this nonsensical debate you stand on, I can at least hope that is some kind of support for my position here. But being a somewhat ignorant person about such things as acronyms (and this after Kerberos had accused me of actually being a NASA employee!), please explain what nATM stands for?

Thanks, I think? :? :?

Kerb is being a troll in this this thread. He well knows and fully believes "we" landed on the Moon. He's just being ... cantankerous. So "Yes" he is kidding and No, "not at this moment" is he being funny. You have my support but you've wandered into a argument w/o looking at the history and hence have been suckered in. My advice, don't bother arguing with Kerb on this but if you want, throw some puns and amusing barbs at him instead (should it be worth your while). That way we can all get a laugh and perhaps the next innocent victim will be clued in.

Thanks Mee-n-Mac, now I get it. But why take a somewhat serious discussion and turn into a circus?

Oh well, I will leave such entertainment up to the entertainers, after all the entertainment IS free!!

However, perhaps the MODS such as MW may not be so very amused by this sort of thing?

I think most times, most of the rational members here are just toying around with the sincere hoaxers when they bother to engage them.

It's like Darth Vader in a contest with pre-Jedi school graduation Luke!

Boy, that's the most succinct description I've heard.

I think your premise is incorrect. The vast majority know this is not a serious discussion and that we landed on the moon. It is just the fakers who have turned this into a circus.

All you need to do is go to the Johnson space center and look around in their Apollo exhibit. It has been proven time and time again that the moon landings were real. Personally I think it's pretty disrespectful that some people think it was a hoax. Those men worked hard to achieve the seemingly impossible in only a few years and then people accuse them of trickery.

And I wouldn't go mentioning that to the Apollo astronauts. I hear Buzz Alrdin punched a guy for saying that to his face

Bart Sibrel tried to take Buzz Aldrin to court for punching him, but the judge threw it out and basically told him that he was just asking for it.

^ :)

Old Buzz had to reach up a bit there to throw that righty. Fairly fast he threw that punch as well. I guess the other guy wasn't expecting a seventy-something vet to jawjack him. :)

Not only was the assailant a demented moon hoaxer, he was incredibly rude and disrespectful and deserved to be smacked. (Besides defaming Aldrin's name aloud and publically.)

And his documentaries are full of half truths and, misdirections, and flat out lies. The moon hoax theory has no ground to stand on at all. It has been thouroughly debunked many times over. This leads me to believe that proponents of this theory want to believe it was hoaxed, and I'm not sure why.

It's been discussed in this voluminous thread before. Many think--including me--that the sincere hoaxers just cannot accept that humans could achieve something so fantastic and astounding as travelling to another world.

You know, it's not just that we went to the Moon, it's that we went to somewhere else that wasn't Earth. If we had no Moon, and just went out 200,000 or so miles and came back, it just wouldn't have been the same. Once we landed on the Moon, it became a place in the human collective consciousness, rather than just a beautiful object in the sky.

I think that's all part of the reason for the deniers. They just don't believe that man could do such a thing. (Funny thing is, some of them are the same people who think extra-terrestrial intelligences are visiting us every other Saturday.)

Come on, Zen. Beating up a man just because he had honest questions proves nothing except that NASA is willing to use violence to crush dissent. We need answers, not violence.

You need intelligent questions first... (assuming you're on the 'fake' side of the fence - I'm not reading all the dribble in this topic!)

I think it is great that NASA is being so frugal. First they save money by not really going to the moon, and then they hire cheap labor from AARP to crush dissent. :D

If the rest of the goverment was this frugal our taxes would be tiny. ;)

Honest questions? Are you serious?!
And I quote...
"You're a coward and a liar"

From Wikipedia

Aldrin graduated third in his class at West Point in 1951 with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and served as a jet fighter pilot during the Korean War. He flew 66 combat missions in F-86 Sabres and shot down two Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 aircraft.

A bloke that flew Sabres into combat over North Korea could not have been or ever be a coward.
Aldrin risked his ass fighting for his country, that fact alone should get him more than a little respect.

When Buzz snotted that media whore creep it was pure gold!

Well, in the state of Georgia, if someone walks up to you and says something like that, you have the LEGAL right to punch his lights out. I kid you not. It's called "defaming one's name." It goes back to the "duelin' days", and it's still on the books.

(It helps if there are witnesses to the fact, of course.) But if someone walks up to me in Georgia and says, "Zen, you are a liar and a cheat", I can legally smash him! So, visitors, mind your mannahs down heah! Y'all heah? ;)

Re: Moon Landings Faked?

I would have thought if some ass, with a cameraman in tow was following you around insulting you and questioning your integrity, honour and character you would have a good case for snotting him anywhere!
I saw this clip in its entirety on the local news here in South Australia.
A few of the coppers I asked about it told me, here at least the ass had already committed an offence.
If you can find the whole clip, the ass badgers Aldrin from the moment he got out of his car!
At one point Aldrin removes the ass' hand from his shoulder, Aldrin gave said ass plenty of opportunity to back off.
The other thing this clip doesn't show is after Aldrin smacks him, the ass turns to the cameraman and says "Did you get that?"

Honest questions??? Did you even watch the video??? I mean really, show some respect to what Buzz and the thousands of others accomplished through years of hard work. I can't have any sympathy for a guy who deliberately ambushes people like Buzz for unscheduled "interviews".

I'm not seeing a lot of honest answers here to the very good questions that some people have asked in this thread. All I see is people attempting to justify violence against anyone who disagrees with them. You need to do better.

You'd think that it would be a natural law among men. But, I am not knowledgeable of the detailed laws of other states or countries. But I'm from Georgia, and from a family of lawyers (and teachers and preachers), who are also all from Georgia. So I know a little bit about Georgia law.
