Man, I loved that show. At least I did before they found Earth... After that, not so much.

Battlestar Galactica - Danger Zone

If we can have umpteen silly Dr. Who threads, I figure one old school Battlestar Galactica thread will at least give the place some class.

[ducks and runs out of the room while being chased by thousands of SDC'ers with Sonic Screwdrivers]

I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Yeah its a pity the second season went with the alien conspiracy/Dukes of Hazzard formula. I thought at the time it would have been much cooler if the BSG had just turned up and pretty much announced "Aliens are real. Get over it. But if we dont have about ten Battlestars built by the time the aliens turn up you are toast."

V and Final Conflict later came along and allowed the aliens to actually do something other than hide in the shadows like perverts, which was a nice change.

Ooooo, that's cold . . *looks at posters screen name*

Well, BG was ok in some ways, but then they sort of started playing it for laughs, or like a kids show, so I felt at the time.

I did like their concept of Cylons initially, but when they saw the need to place a HUMAN at their head, which I am thinking they did to . . well. . . to humanise an inhuman foe, I lost interest.

I was, long before BG, schooled in the ideas of AI becoming aware and seeing its makers (us humans) as sure-enough dangerous competitors that " Come'ere Bullseye, you's gotta go, Bullseye" had out lived their usefulness.

What was BG anyway, other than an extended disguised romp through Saberhagens Berserker future, and Balterzar merely jumped up "Goodlife" with ambitions?. If you want to see BG as old school, then Berserkers was its Academy

And Berserkers would make an EXCELLENT TV series, my bloody oath. Man, it would really let you make meaningful drama with only occasional need to show special effects. You would hardly need a complex set, and the most simple of robots could become the most terrifying enemy because of the animating spirit riding it like an electronic Loa.

I love Berserkers! Doomsday weapons, roaming the Universe.. Priceless.

I did like their concept of Cylons initially, but when they saw the need to place a HUMAN at their head, which I am thinking they did to . . well. . . to humanise an inhuman foe, I lost interest.

Well, he wasn't really their leader. He was given authority by the Cylons or, more appropriately, their creators. Their creators were like a cross between insect and reptile, IIRC. I admit, I didn't like him being put in that position. I wanted to see pure Cylon motivations involved. But, I watched the series nonetheless.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

It's funny how tastes can differ, for I never liked BG until they found Earth.

I just finished watching Buck Rogers from the same TV era, same idea glint and glimer of the disco days. Acting was worse and production values just as bad. Made me enjoy BSG pre 80 better...

Reading this just induced a memory flashback -- of that annoying little midget robot with the medallion around his neck. What a waste of otherwise perfectly useful machinery!

*nee nu nee nu*

Argh!

Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...
