The MRO picture was great with the crater in the background. So was the close up on Phoenix, but I expected the conference to be about&nbsp;discussing a lot&nbsp;more pictures and that just didn't happen. Everyone was busy asking question about how the UHF malfunctioned. that was a bit boring.

Actually about 20 KM in front of 10 KM diameter crater.</p><p>Then showed image, from 300 km above of Phoenix (showing solar arrays), Chute and backshell 300 meters to south, and heat shield 200 m to SE.</p><p>Haven't quite finished 360 degree panorama. To south, about 9km away hill can be seen; shows sky is real clear.</p><p>Wx report:<br />Hi -30C Lo -80C<br />Pressure 8.5 mb<br />Winds NE ~ 20 kph</p><p>Showed image of American flag and PLanetary Society DVD.</p><p>Phoenix is in ~ 30 km wide "valley"</p><p>Lots of stupid questions, a few good ones have been included in notes above.<br />Also questions about "polar bear" (from New Scientist? When in space, if something unusual happens, you shut the device down to prevent further damage, and bring it back up slowly as you gather more data.</p><p>Whole spaceraft experience that as well.
