Where did the Chromium come from?

In regards to the article below (which I hate linking, but couldn't find an official press release to refer to) and the information from the Suzaku site's homepage (below as well). They list a huge number of supernovas, and I was looking into a reason this gas stays hot and localized, when I noticed on the Suzaku information page, there was no note of supernovas capable of making chromium.

My actual question was, where did it come from?

I am not sure how you came to this conclusion about chromium. Chromium can be fused in stars and can certainly be formed during a supernova event.

Oh, I certainly understand it has to be possible, since we have natural chromium after all. But the amount that the article was referring so is amazingly large, and I was curious how this much could be produced by one system, that I figured I would read a little more on it. I read the cliff notes of supernova discussed by the Suzaku group, and they really didn't really say it was a prolific byproduct.

So I thought I would ask here what could possibly create so much of this.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood the question. I really can't answer on the quantity of the chromium found perhaps someone else could.

If you read down the article, towards the bottom, you'll see....

The Suzaku study data show it took some 3 billion supernovas to produce the measured amounts of chromium and manganese.

I did read that. But the article seems quite odd. Why does this system seem to have this propensity to produce these elements? Is that a reason why this system has a supernova, on average, every 4 years?
