Don't know the birthdate...but she was 19 1/2 when I dated her...
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson

I need to track her down and get more information. If we can work a 33 and a 39 in here (19.5 x 2)...
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson

Jon How much longer until you can expect a detailed response about Erjevac and Nicks? Telf: Zen, I’ve got to say, as a writer and teacher, if I’d found this in a paper you’d turned in, I’d have flunked you on the spot and requested you be expelled.

Max --- Now do you understand why I asked you to provide the Malin quotation in context?

No, I don't... sorry. Please elaborate.

I'm a bit behind on reading... Internet was down at home last night. I needed the break anyway! Real busy at work too....
Look at Packet's orginal quote. Then look at Zen's quote. Portions of Packet's quotes are used...but Zen's "comments" are inserted inside Packet's quotation...it's a misrepresentation of the original quote. It's probably not the greatest example of why I asked you to give me Malin's comment in context, but I was a bit peeved at Zen when I wrote that. (In Zen's defense, he contends it was sarcasm, but it's a method and technique that can be used to "skew" a quote...even when writing "sarcasm" the writer's opinions should be kept seperate from the original quotation.)

I'd like to see Malin's statement in its original context. He apparently makes the statement that measurements are not "wholly" in doubt...(I think that's close, I'm too lazy to go back through the other thread to look for the exact quote). I'd like to see if that was in reference to what we're talking about as a whole, or a specific photograph.
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson

Sorry, I'm going to post as I catch up here...

Please remember,,,, I was pushing for a 5-7% margin of error....

I was pushing for a 5-7% margin of error....

Yep. On either side of the "line", or a 10-14% overal error. And the reason I disagreed with it, is because of the side of the area. A 10 degree difference over an area 20km (?)...the error would be huge.

And I pushed for a 3 degree margin - 1.5 degrees on either side of the line. Other posters here suggested a 1 degree variance - or .5 degree on either side of the line.

If we're back to that, then we're backtracking. You're still saying 10-14 degrees off either side of the "line" is acceptable? And Zen contends it's all invalid because the images aren't OR'd.

So which objection do we answer?

One?

Both?

Or do we do what I'm in the mood to do right now...throw up our hands and walk away from this?
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson

No, we never agreed.... I would have been happy w/ 5-7 on either side if RCH was 3 on either side.

5-7% is halfway between what we both wanted..... Margin satisfied.

Max,

In the interests of moving forward and serving the members, could you repost that citation? Since you're familiar with it, it would probably be faster and easiery for you to repost it rather than others trying to sift through all the threads to find it. tks

I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Hello Zen,and Max. I told Violet I over at Freedomcrowsnest.org that I wasnt going to put my two billion in, and that I was working on my belief in God and my personal relationship with a higher benevolent creator/creators. But, I thought about it after talking to her over there. I also ran into Keith over there surprisingly enough. Then I thought, heck, this may be some kind of message that perhaps I ought to care again about this whole deal. So, hence, Here I am once again, and still waiting for the Adm over at TEM to admit me onboard the Enterprise again. Should be fully online sometime today over there,,,they got their funds today. Summer is good although Hot and humid 90s here, and gettin out of 'Dodge' this coming saturday and headin to Cambridge to see take a Safari tour over in THE WILDS. Ok ,,well its very nice of you both to say hello and its superb to see you both on here!! Ill be posting my 'billion' worth here soon so as always, have a blessed day and stay safe. GRR8

I will endeavor to find it at home tonight (many boxes to sift through!) and I will get that quote in it's entirety............cool?

I'd appreciate it. I just like to see things in their original context. It's the historian in me.
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson
