I read an article in TV Guide about Heroes. It said that a hero will die, but they'll somehow use them later still. Also, Niki and Jessica will final battle it out and one of them will take over. Oh , and Claire's father is going to be someone we've previously seen on the show...I don't know who though.

Claires father.

Clues.

Silk purple shirt. Nice watch. Boss in charge. Plush surroundings. Vegas style. Hotels. Casinos. Mom was in a bar surrounding.

Ties this surrounding with a few episodes. Most surrounded peters brother and niki.
"An organism at war with itself is a doomed organism." - Carl Sagan

Anyone been watching Heroes on NBC?

I have. Needed something to fill in during the wait for the next season of The 4400. And was surprised to find myself enjoying this series as much as I have.

By the way...

Tonight's the big night. The mysterious man-behind-the-scenes will finally step from the shadows:

Heroes: Parasite

Syler will get peters powers, but both will be unable to kill each other. Syler will not be able to control his new found powers, like peter has been learning to do. Syler now becomes a bomb.
"An organism at war with itself is a doomed organism." - Carl Sagan

Many, but at the risk of one of them being right, im not going to share them. . =P

Well. Ok.

Niki's alter ego has the hots for Peters brother. This leads to all kinds of interesting conversations with herself.

As i mentioned in the last post i had in this thread, sylers going to get peters powers, but not be able to control them. Peter will heal back and fight Syler.

Mrs Petrolli (Peters mom) has been revealed as knowing a little about whats really going on. Claire has come under her protection. This can REALLY lead to something interesting. I.e. an underground movement against the exploitation of mutants.

I leave it at that... for now.
"An organism at war with itself is a doomed organism." - Carl Sagan

Definitely the best sci-fi show on telly at the moment, bar none.

Just seen the episode where the Invisible Man arrives. I didn't catch the opening credits, and was bugged for most of the Ep by the recognisable voice. Then the penny finally dropped and I realised it was Christopher Eccleston from Doctor Who. I'll bet Calli was tickled to see him in this show, I know I was!

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

well the last episode is approaching and the ending is looking very anti-climatic. Finally finished watching the season today. I couldn't look at this thread until I did, to avoid spoilers. The wife can't handle the gore so I had to download it and watch it when I could. Needless to say, I'm hooked.

I see no one mentioned the easter egg, so I'm wondering if anyone even noticed it: The first episode where Hiro's father (played by George Takei, aka Mr Sulu) appeared, the license plate on his limo read NCC-1701

If this show is truly based on comic books, then what will probobly happen is that the group will kill off (or more likely, lock away in some sort of insane assilum), the first bad guy just to find that there is another one (or more) right behind him so that way they can keep on going untill the rating give out.

If they don't do this then it will end up like the afformentioned 4400 or Lost where it seems as though even the writers don't know where the show is headed.

You're right, of course, and from the way the first season ended it's clear Sylar's not really out of the picture. (Too bad, since my wife likes the show but can't stand the Sylar character - may end up watching next season alone.) On that subject (next season), for those of you who might not think the presence of Ali Larter and Hayden Panettiere is enough:

Kristen Bell to appear on NBC's 'Heroes' by Mike Householder (San Jose Mercury News)

08/20/2007

DETROIT—Kristen Bell is going from solving mysteries to being a part of one. The 27-year-old actress, who starred for three seasons as teenage detective Veronica Mars on the now-canceled show of the same name, will appear in a multi-episode arc on NBC's "Heroes" this fall....

Kring said Bell's character, Elle, will appear in October and will be "a sexy, intriguing, mysterious young lady" who will commit a terrible crime, but it won't be clear whose side she is really on....

And, from NBC Heroes:

Kring said that season two’s villians will make last year’s look tame. Those who paid attention to the season finale already have a hint about one of them, he said.

“At the end of last season we gave in the season finale a premonition of someone who is a very scary villain out there, who has invaded the dreams and nightmar

I think it's time to start resurrecting this thread with the new season is a little over a week away and the DVD for the fist season on the shelves.

If you haven't gotten the DVD by now I highly recommend it. The episode commentary tracks are ok although the actors spend a little too much time talking about how good the other actors are on the show (we know this already ), however some interesting information can be gleamed out of it. The behind the scenes stuff was pretty good. A lot of the show is performed in front of a green screen. To a certain extent it's not a really big surprise, but there were a lot of scenes that used blue screens that you would never think were blue screen shots. Blue screen tech is getting really good these days. Most of the deleted scenes weren't actually deleted scenes but scenes with a few extra lines in them.

The crème de la crème of the DVD, however, was the 73 minute never-before-seen pilot. There was a whole storyline that got cut from the pilot and was never resumed during the season. I won't spoil it for you, but it would be very interesting to see how the season would have gone had they kept this story line. The unaired pilot, compared to the aired one, is a textbook case in how changing a few lines spoken off screen can practically change the meaning of an entire scene.

So, again we are defeated. Well, it's October 3 and the new season now has two episodes under its belt. (The show itself apparently used a not-so-mystical superpower of its own to boost itself in the ratings: Heroes Goes Up, Up and Away.)

Hiro Nakamura has survived the potential destruction of New York, only to find himself transported to 17th century Japan. Where he meets his childhood hero, Takezo Kensei, and learns that heroes and the stories about them often bear only a passing resemblance to the truth.

Meanwhile, the girl who can see anyone anywhere in the world, Molly Walker, can't hide - even in her dreams - from the one being who can see her at will: someone apparently far more deadly than ability-stealing serial killer Sylar. The former cheerleader, whose saving would save the world, has been saved and the world remains. But things have changed, and Claire Bennet is with her family living a new life under a new last name in a new town. Trying very hard to be ordinary. And Mohinder Suresh is no longer merely a background character largely relegated to the role of narrator. He is seeking to discover the identities of those who may be responsible for people with special abilities, who also track them and hope to control them. And in the midst of all this, a virus is stalking people gifted with extraordinary powers.

By now, most of the show's watchers are aware that last season's villain, Sylar, still lives. But it is also becoming obvious that someone far worse lurks out there, someone whom Molly Walker desperately does not want to see...

Someone I know has a suspicion as to the identity of the superpowered killer targeting the old guard, the puppet-masters behind the mysterious rise of special abilities among humans. Who has already claimed Kaito Nakamura. Angela Petrelli is scheduled to be his next v

Well, after last night's episode I have many questions, but the most pertinent one is at this rate when are we going to be seeing our old pals Bill Shatner and Lenny Nemoy on Heroes?

So, again we are defeated. I realize that this is an awkward question, but.. well.. here goes..

What is "Heroes" about? Is it worth watching?

I saw one piece of an episode, I think, of "Heroes." Apparently, some of the people have super-hero-like powers or something...

Since that time, "Heroes" has grown in popularity. A lot of people say it's a great show and it certainly makes entertainment headlines.

So, can anyone tell me in a couple of sentences what it is really about and what the "main" plotline is?
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Well, it's pretty much what you described. It's a show about people with superhuman powers. The main difference is that the characters aren't your normal super hero show fodder. This isn't the kind of show where you'll hear the phrase "Now that I've discovered my new superpowers, I shall use them to fight evil." The characters are a bit more subtle than that. Take for example, last season there was a hero that could paint paintings of the future who also happened to be addicted to heroin. What's more, he needed to get high in order to use his powers. Often the line between good guy and bad guy is somewhat blurry.

It's really a good show, you should watch it.

So, again we are defeated. Is there a main storyline, something like "TPTB want to use the superheroes for their own purposes." or something like that? The piece of the episode I saw had to do with one of the heroes being captured by some badguys and another hero rescuing them.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

It's hard to pin down the plotline of the show in a few sentences because the show is an ensemble cast with at least half a dozen intertwined plot lines. If I were able to adequately write down the plotline of Heroes... well, it would be long enough to be the script for the first season of Heroes.

To directly answer your question, there is a mysterious organization simply known as "The Company" that kidnaps people who have "special abilities" and studies them to find out how they tick. Most are catch-and-released with a day or two of missing time. In the beginning it is not exactly clear who is in charge of The Company or the reason they are studying these people, so I won't spoil it for you.

There is also another person, Mohinder Suresh from India who's father, Chandra Suresh literally wrote the book on people with special abilities. His father developed a way to detect the genetic marker of someone with special abilities. He traveled to NYC in the hopes of finding a few of the people that he identified and figure out how they worked. Unfortunately he was killed and Mohinder went to New York to find out who killed him.

Some other main characters:

Clare Bennet who is a high school student and cheerleader living in Odessa, TX who has the ability to heal rapidly from even normally fatal wounds. Her father, Noah Bennet, secretly works for The Company and wrestles with fulfilling his obligation to his superiors and protecting his daughter from them.

Nathan and Peter Petrelli are brothers who live in New York. Nathan has the ability to fly, but doesn't want to acknowledge his powers as he is running for the US Senate and is concerned that rumors of his ability might hurt his chances of winning. Peter has the ability to absorb other people's powers as so long as he is near them and not only acknowledges his powers but wants to use them.

A man simply known as Sylar can also absorb pe

So, again we are defeated. Thank you very much for taking the time to explain it. Now, maybe the next time it's on, I'll consider viewing it with a lot less trepidation than before. It's hard to pick up a storyline in any series after a few seasons.

Thanks!

I put on my robe and wizard hat...

I definitely recommend picking up the first season on DVD.
