rlb2, thank you for your reasonable response .

Frankly, I don't understand the tone of your post. It's very defensive. I stated my opinion. It's how I feel. I did not say, "rlb2, you're color is wrong! Mine is right!" You made a statement about color and asked if anyone got the same thing. I said no and proceeded to explain why I thought that was the case. And, btw, I'm quite aware of the situation concerning the actual colors, monitors and all that. I would think by now that you wouldn't feel the need to lecture me on this. It was unnecessary and uncalled for since I've said the same thing in previous posts concerning this issue.

It's also rather insulting of you to suggest that I don't know how to post larger images. I could ask you if you know how to reduce them, but I won't since I have no interest in insulting your skills.

I do indeed sharpen my images. Not a lot, but then oversharpening has a tendency to increase the impact of image artifacts.

I also darken the image, change the contrast, adjust the color saturation and other parameters. You might ask me and I'd be happy to explain my process to you or anyone. I've done this before, but no one seemed all that interested.

"I respect and like seeing your images."

Misrepresenting my process doesn't seem like much of a sign of respect, but thank you anyway. It's unlikely that I will do much more of this since I'm obsessed with other things at the moment.

"If your going to show what you would classify as an exact representation of the facts then you should have known that the color monitor your going to be using isn't the same as your computer, you have to calibrate it. Basic logic here not thought of by overdeveloped brains. [emphasis mine]"

Is this directed at me? More insults? I'm rather surprised and disappointed with

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. I’m looking to other sites etc, in fact I have
hundreds of images I haven’t posted here since Carli has switched the Images of Mars thread to her domain.
I do have a weekly update website for some of those images that aren’t restricted to 100Kibits like here
but they are not permanently displayed. I will continue creating images until the MER rovers dies.

I could give many more examples on what you wrote above but I’m not going to. Enough said. rlb2,
I wrote you a rather long PM to keep this out of the public, but I see you don't accept PMs. That's too bad.

If you provide me with some way to contact you outside of SDC I will be happy to respond to this post in more detail. I'd rather not get into a cat fight with you in public, but then I didn't start this.

For public consumption...WTF is going on with you? Is everything all right at home?

There was no perceived "wrath" between us, as far as I could detect, until your rather longwinded post with all its incorrect assumptions about how I processed my images which was in response to my post attempting to answer your question about whiteness in the images. (Everybody follow that? ) IMHO you're response to my response of that longwinded post was not responsive .

" I’ve got to get back to building my flying saucer.

Again, WTF? Are you maybe referring to my comment about going to fly rockets? rlb2, it's what I do for a hobby these days. It's called amateur rocketry. I build real rockets that really fly and twice a month I get together with a group of likeminded people and we launch them. Surely you've heard of this hobby.

I'm beginning to think that somebody has hijacked your username and I'm really not talking to rlb2. The rlb2 I used to know wouldn't talk like this.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

"I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Tangled Terrain in Acheron Fossae

More than a thousand kilometers north of the giant volcano Olympus Mons lies a geologically jumbled zone. In Acheron Fossae, part of the volcanic province of Tharsis, dozens of faults curve like shards of window glass. These mark where tensions in the martian crust stretched and broke the surface, and buckled it up and down.

Full story here: http://themis.asu.edu/feature_acherongraben
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find and not to yeild. - Tennyson

These images are rather interesting, from Opportunity. Could one of our imaging experts display them please in color?

sol 662 http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/1/p/661/1P186861178EFF64KCP2585L7M1.JPG

sol 659
http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/1/p/659/1P186688360EFF64KCP2288L5M1.HTML

sol 658
http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/1/p/658/1P186597812EFF64KCP2286L5M1.HTML

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I really, really, really miss the "first unread post" function.

This one is real weird ( from Rakhir), from the photo group I linked earlier. The pattern in the soils seemed to have changed.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I really, really, really miss the "first unread post" function.

thanks Swampscot. Those dark colored cobbles sitting on top of the lighter colored sedimentary rocks in your last two photos are interesting; I was curious to see how they looked in realistic coloration. I wonder how they got transported to their location, [erhaps they may have come from the nearby dark-colored cliff structure (about 20m away; yet to be investigated).

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I really, really, really miss the "first unread post" function.

In another forum, the suggestion was that vibrations from the rover caused a partial soil collapse, and you could see the debris fan from the soil collapse.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I really, really, really miss the "first unread post" function.
