A Borg planet.

So far, all Borg interaction has been in cubes, conquered worlds, space structures, etc. but never a world thoroughly and totally assimilated by the Borg.

Enterprise D was briefly hurtling towards one in ST: First Contact, but with all the time line adjustments, we never got to the surface.

Might be a movie here . . . .

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

What would a Borg world be like ??

Do they flatten all the mountains, pave over the seas ??

Do they put implants in animals ??

A Borg octopus would be pretty creepy . . .

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

A Borg planet.

In "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" it was the world of living machines that built V'GER. You saw it on the flight through V'GER to the Voyager 6 spacecraft. Roddenberry said so in "The Star Trek Encyclopedia: A Reference Guide to the Future". It was also referenced in several of Shatner's Trek novels.

Do they put implants in animals ??

Now THERE'S an interesting question. Makes me sort of sad, though, thinking about poor ol' dogs and cats festooned with Borg implants.
Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

If they watch human movies, I'm sure their favourite actor is Ernest Borgnine

Can you imagine the Borg homeworld with ants on it AND Borg? The Borg would be too busy running around, staring at the pavement and screaming "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE."
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Unless it was the ants in "Them", in which case they'd be looking up and saying "AAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!"

Which brings up an interesting point. Ever notice that all the creatures they run into on Star Trek ar human sized? or at least animal sized?

Other than "energy beings"

Why no nano beings (i.e. ants) or mega beings (the ants in Them)???

But the Krell forgot one thing John. There have been several episodes IIRC of "nano beings" or the equivelent in ST:TNG. There were also a couple of giant organisms in TNG and TOS. The big amoeba thing in TOS and there was some huge cloud too IIRC. In TNG the black pudding thing that killed Tasha Yar (bow head in rememberance of yet another great ST rack..) actually occupied most of the planet I think. The crystal entity is another.

However, mostly, Star Trek is about "Forehead of the Week" as far as aliens go. I suppose it's so the audience identifies more with the character since they only have an hour to build them up. I would have loved to see some BEMs or giant spaghetti monsters crewing huge, moon sized spaceships. Better yet, give me a nice totally insectoid race. I think ST:Enterprise encountered one of those but you didn't see them alot.
I put on my robe and wizard hat...

Yes in Enterprise there were several non human species (As was the TOS Gorn, cute ******, looked like a bipedal annual cicada) of insectoid and other origins.

The amoeba is an exception, I had incorrectly counted it in the "energy being" category.

Still, never any battles against creatures 4 times the crew size in "hand to appendage" combat.

Now that you got me thinking (congratulations!) I think in TNG there was a nanobot attack.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Monsters. My recollections;

1. several episodes with the "crystaline entity" that scoured planets of their lifeforms. It was eventually destroyed by causing it to resonate.

2. TNG episode "Home Soil" where they encounter light powered "microbrains" who collectively can take over the ship systems, at least until someone dims the lights.

3. TNG episode "The Child" where Troi is impregnated by a small energy being so it can learn what it's like to be a humanoid.

4. Several episodes in TNG & Voyager involving Borg nano-tech.

5. TNG "Identity Crisis" where Geordi is transformed by a parasite.

6. TNG episode "Evolution" where medical nanobots evolve into sentient beings and are eventually given colonization rights on Kavis Alpha IV.

7. TNG "Skin of Evil" where Tasha gets wasted.

Odd. No one mentioned the creatures from STNG's Pilot episode, "Encounter at Farpoint."

For that matter, the Voyager Pilot episode, "Caretaker."

The giant God from STOS, "Who Mourns For Adonis."

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

I remember reading an interview in which someone asked Gene Roddenberry about the "forehead of the week" phenomenon.

He said, "It's limiting, I know. But unfortunately, the only actors we can find happen to be human." Or words to that effect.
Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...

I was thinking your posted referred to why the borg didn't assimilate other sized beings.

I think borg will only assimilate something usefull for their collective, borg will not assimilate non intelligent life form like me for example. information in my brain will be useless for them. -P

But it will be cute if there are koala bord, crochoaches borg, worm borg....

ST : Voyager almost derisively revealed that while the Borg were aware of the Kazon, they had deemed them unsuitable for assimilation.

TPTB went to Dallas and all I got was Plucked !!

So many people, so few recipes !!

Let's clean up this stinkhole !!

In the Book ST "Federation" (not precisely canon, but written by the best writing team in the ST world, IMO), the probe last seen speaking to Whales had encountered a vicious race of biological/technological people in "square bubbles," 187,000 years before. A reference to the Borg?

Differential Diagnosis: "I am both amused and annoyed that you think I should be less stubborn than you are."

What happens if you cut a borg flatworm in half? Does it assimilate itself?
