I don't speak German, and this Babelfish-translated version is pretty hard to understand. I can't tell if this is exciting, bunk, or just so badly-translated that it seems like something else. Does anybody know anything about this?

More thrust, less consumption - translated
Mehr Schub, weniger Verbrauch - untranslated

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Okay, that makes sense. Hubby saw it mentioned on Slashdot as if it was something revolutionary and new, but if it's a VASIMR-like-concept, then it's not so new. Doesn't sound as if they've gotten any further with it than NASA has....

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

I wouldn't be surprised if US Navy would have had at least a working prototype for sub propulsion a la that film for years. Japanese built a motor yacht with working mhd propulsion long ago. Didn't go very fast and consumed oodles of energy to cool and power superconducting magnetic coils, but it proved the concept works.
