Well, George sounds unfazed by the current weather.
T minus 2 hours 56 minutes and counting.
Crew walkout coming up...

If KSC was in Yorkshire, we'd say "40 per cent of crap weather". More to the point, etc

Yeah, I just walked outsited to grab some coins for the vending machine (lunch) from my car...ya know, the ones that fall down in the seats and such. Anyway, I looked towards the space center, and there are some pretty nasty looking clouds over that way. Hope they clear out. It clear straight out over the beach from where I am (cocoa beach)

Hello All,

I'm watching the webcast on NASA TV but not getting any sound. I was hoping to hear some commentary during launch such as speeds / ranges etc.

They are showing vidio of the countdown clock now. It reads 2 hrs. 56 mins. And the wind is blowing the flags around pretty good.

Whats the weather situation?

Thanks,
Scot

I just checked a map of KSC/CCAS, and that precipitation (or "rain" to the non-technical ) is really really close to the actual pads. But when I went to the radar loop, it just blew up in the past half hour. Little bitty rainshowers have been blowing up all across the Atlantic coast of Florida this morning, it seems, and then blowing out just as quickly. So that's probably why they're being optimistic. There's a very good chance the rain will be done by launch time.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

Think positive. Crew is on their way to the pad. Radar has been updated at Intellicast; it's still raining, but is slightly less heavy now. (The red part of the precipitation blob has shrunk to a mere pixel.) Still lots of orange and yellow in that thundershower, though, so it's still a respectable rainfall.

And *any* rainfall within 20 miles of the pad is a violation of launch rules. Go away, nasty thundershower! Come back later.

"Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day....."

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

NASA TV webcast starting to die. Typical...bandwidth was always going to be an issue, it was for deep impact, and seems they never understand demand. Anyway, we'll see if enough people get sick of it and thus leave the rest of us with a good feed

It looks like the astronauts van is rolling to the launch pad.

Don't let who you are keep you from becoming who you want to be!

I'm experiencing bandwidth problems too. Didnt think it would happen since they recruited two other companies to help them out with it.

Crew has arrived at the pad. Looking at the radar, I hope they brought umbrellas. The blob has grown significantly, with it raining all over the area -- it is definintely raining on the Shuttle right now. But it's a lot lighter than it was, so maybe this means the storm is breaking up.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"

The camera coverage is excellent. I don't remember seeing so much of the drive to the pad, getting off the astrovan and walking across to the bridge to the white room on previous launches.

I've got really good sound to. I'm quite impressed with today's coverage, considering how much trouble i had with the Deep Impact.

Those who are getting a good stream, could you post where you are getting your feed from?
