One from my youth, and not entirely 'space' from beginning to end, but 'Amazon Women On The Moon' gets two thumbs up for spoofing B-Grade sci-fi movies.

I must try and track that one down at the video store.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

I recently watched, "Yor, The Hunter From The Future" (1983), simply for its suckitude potential.

A caveman movie with a disco soundtrack. And it only gets worse from there on in...or better, if you're like me and you love unintentionally hilarious fantasy/sci-fi flicks.

If you are looking for a movie with "suckitude", try out Beastmaster. The first one was ok, but it majorly got worse as it went on. If they would have just kept with Andre Norton's book premise, that would have been a great storyline. But all they used was his name and his critters in their tale. Don't get me wrong, the first one was not that good, but better then the rest.

A Boy & His Dog with Don Johnson (Miami vice fame) & Zardoz with Sean Connery weren't exactly first-class. Also, any movie with Lance Henrikson in it!

"Zardoz"! Sean Connery in a red speedo brandishing a revolver! Just not my cup of tea. That alone made the movie funny as far as I was concerned...and yet unwatchable at the same time.

I must note however, that I suspect my wife loves "Beastmaster" precisely BECAUSE of Marc Singer prancing around in his loincloth. I think the MST3K guys did a segment highlighting the many butt shots in that film.

We had some fun with this thread some months back. You ought to ask the poster before you what he thought of Waterworld. But then again, if you have read the postings, maybe you better not.

My wife really enjoyed that picture and book tape a lot. It was enjoyable to me, in that you could make several different lists of things from that movie. The best list I complied was the list of improbabilities, like how those jet skies were converted to burn crude oil, how they were able to deal out cigarettes that were two hundred years old, and such things.

What part of the show did you like most? As for Mad Max, I only liked Beyond Thunderdome the most. But that was an enjoyable one as things go.

My mistake, I was looking though this thread and found it was not wmdragon, but another poster of some simular name. Sorry about that.

Hey I think somebody mentioned here a movie called The Black Hole. Is it so bad? has anybody else seen it? I just remember I had the LP as a kid and I enjoyed the story so much. One day I saw a part of the movie but never got the chance to see it entirely.

Worst Si-Fi movie ever? Gotta be Xtro 3: Watch the Skies I cannot say anymore, if you don't believe me just watch it. At least is good for a few laughs because of how bad it is.

I saw The Black Hole ages ago. as a kid I liked many things in it, but from what I remember I would probably find it lame now. not enough to put it in a "worst ever" category though

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

The beginning of "The Black Hole" was good. The USS Cygnus was one of THE coolest sci-fi ships, looking like a glass ship, lit from within. It was spooky as they approached the ship at the event horizon (with the starfields lit by a blue nebula), not knowing if there was anyone still alive on the ship. So, production values and music were good.
It was after they got aboard the ship that things went horribly wrong, with annoying robots, and being able to breathe in a vacuum.

yes, pretty much agree. I still remember the haunting music score and the mysterious Cygnus. a ghost spaceship is always an intriguing story element.

for a much worse ghost-spaceship-meets-black-hole movie, see "Event Horizon". too bad: black holes cool, ghost spaceship cool, two together Hollywood doesnt get it right yet

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

'The Day the Earth Stood Still' is one of the best and lamest. It's 100% pretention and moralizes to the point of dripping honey. But I really liked it.

99% of space movies have nothing to do with real space and the aliens are just humans cast in some diguised version of human character and morality.

Armageddon rocked! That film made me cry, so much pure cheese, all i had to do was bring the base and the tomato sauce.

I second Space Raiders.

But I can't make myself hate Black Hole. I was 4 or 5 when I first saw it, it's the first Sci-Fi I can remember seing, so it's got nostalgia for me.

I loathe Alien 3 because before the opening credits had already run, I already hated it for completely destroying the ending of Aliens. They all died anyway, it was all pointless.

I think Calli once mentioned that she liked the film, but I've never seen it. Did you think it was awful?

I remember liking Buckaroo Banzai as well, would put it down as dorky but not lame.

The only laws of matter are those which our minds must fabricate, and the only laws of mind are fabricated for it by matter.
--- James Clerk Maxwell

Well, (hedging) it's not as bad as Ed Wood's movie, and it was better than Battle Beyond the Stars, but it wasn't Babylon 5, ya know?

This is such an old thread -- and I have only just now discovered it. But I can't BELIEVE nobody has mentioned that awful take on "Dune" -- from back in the mid-80s, I think.

And what about "Barbarella"? I do have to say, though -- a bikini-clad Jane Fonda (mid-1960s) made up in a marvelous way for the basic lack of any coherent storyline.

And does anybody else remember "Soylent Green"? Now *that* was a scary sci-fi.

Just tell the truth and let the chips fall...
