I was more of the heavy-metal type that liked hanging out with the punks because of the chicks. :)&nbsp; Since I was obviously not part of the "establishment" and doing my own thing with heavy-metal fandom, nobody had a problem.&nbsp; The funny thing was that most punkers were definitely against most drug abuse and such where I was.&nbsp; Drinking was universal and maybe a little pot here and there in the punk scene.&nbsp; But, meth, acid, cocaine and all the heavier things associated with fringe groups weren't an issue.&nbsp; Headbangers abused more pot/alcohol/drugs than the punkers I knew.&nbsp; Most of the more popular punk guys were squeeky clean when it came to that kind of thing. </p> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <font size="1">I put on my robe and wizard hat...</font> </div>

Posted by vidargander</DIV></p><p>BSG and some of the plotline for the Caprica series are definitely in the realm of the classic "Frankenstein" theme.&nbsp; That theme and various offshoots of it has always been a good playground for ethical, legal and even religious philosophies.</p><p>I like that theme as it is being worked in the current Battlestar Galactica series.&nbsp; I don't know how much I'll like it in some of the plot suggestions in Caprica.&nbsp; I was always under the impression that the "cyborgs" in BSG were created by the Cylons or a related Artificial Intelligence.</p><p>Then again, the Cylon warriors (old style) weren't very bright.&nbsp; But, that was portrayed a little differently in the series with the current Cylon Warrior caste obviously being very dimwitted but the old style Cylon Warriors were made out to be more intelligent.&nbsp; They were depicted as having their own agenda, somewhat, in an episode.&nbsp; (I was really excited about seeing the old Cylons brought out in that episode and immediately recognized the old Cylon Raider craft as soon as it came into view. :) ) </p><p>I wonder..</p><p>Could the old Cylon models and the new Cylon models have fundamental differences and orgins?&nbsp; The new Cylon Warriors are obviously not very autonomous or intelligent compared to the older Cylon Warrior models while the new Cylon Cyborg models are extremely intelligent.</p> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <font size="1">I put on my robe and wizard hat...</font> </div>

I think that BSG is doing a fair attempt to approach such philosophies. And I must say that religious or not, I respect the serious attests to figure such out, risking being wrong. Belief is a 50/50 philosophy.</p><p>Battlestarwiki provides thorough information about the Cylon modes, and even those that wasn&rsquo;t made, http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Portal:Cylons There certainly were intelligent Cylons in the original series. One in particular was called Lucifer.</p><p>As far as I know, in the Caprica series, a girl is made a humanoid in order to keep her alive. There were made robots too. That&rsquo;s the two species. Posted by vidargander</DIV></p><p>I took a look at the Battlestar wiki.&nbsp; I've seen it before but never used it to specifically look for anything.</p><p>The only comparisons I was making was really questioning how far into the old BSG backstory the new BSG is willing to go.&nbsp; For instance, we've seen the old Cylon Centurion models in the New BSG.&nbsp; They were also in the series/movie as "The Guardians" which was a separate, spinoff group from the Cylons that had their own hybrid and were trying to improve themselves by conducting genetic experiments.&nbsp; They flew the old Raider design as well.</p><p>So, I was trying to figure out what they would keep and discard from the old series and what would "fit" in regards to how the Hybrids and Cyborgs were created.&nbsp; Since "Caprica" referrences the creation of a cyborg in its storyline, I was hoping that was not going to be the explanation of how the Cylon Cyborgs came into being.&nbsp; I had always thought the Cyborgs were somehow created by the Cylons.&nbsp; But, according to the wiki, even the Cyborgs don't know who created them or why. </p> <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <font size="1">I put on my robe and wizard hat...</font> </div>
