We are now preparing the house for the storm. We're picking up outside and all. Looks like we are going to evacuate too. <img src="/images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> If we do, we are leaving tomorrow morning.

Hurricane Ivan has TS winds in a diameter of 520 miles. Also Jeanne seems to be heading for the FL east coast. We lost power here in Orange Park, in Frances, for 17.5 hours. Two oak trees came down in the apartment complex, did not hit anything though.

Good luck, Arobie. If don't get a chance to post before you evacuate, at least let us know when you get back, because we're all gonna be thinking about you. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p> </p><p><font color="#666699"><em>"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff."</em>  -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"</font></p> </div>

Thanks Calli,<br /><br />I don't know whether we are going to evacuate or not. For a while we were going to, but now it looks like we might not. My parents are undecided. Looks like it won't hit us, and where it looks like it will hit, we are west of. That puts us on the weak side of the storm. It also looks like this storm will weaken. <br /><br />My grandparents were going to evacuate, but that was when my great grand-mother was with them. My great grand-mother passed away last night. While packing, she slipped and fell. She hit her head and had internal bleeding inside her brain. My grandparents were given the choice at the hospital to let them do emergency surgery or to let her pass away. Even if the surgery was successful, she would have spent the rest of her life comatose and dependent on machines. Her son, my grandfather, decided to let her pass away. She wouldn't have wanted to live like that, and he didn't want to put her through it. My great grand-mother lived a full and long life. She was a very good lady, and now she is going to a better place. She will be able to see her husband, parents, and siblings once again.<br /><br />So over at my grandparents house they are working very somberly to prepare their new house for the storm. They just moved in two weeks ago. They are also preparing to evacuate, but they plan to ride out the storm since we are on the weak side of it. They will leave though if it turns or comes our way. I <i>think</i> my family will do the same. We plan to ride it out, but we will be ready to evacuate if need be.

*big strong huggles*<br /><br />I'm sorry to hear about your great-grandmother's passing. But I'm glad you're taking it so well. <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" /> She was obviously a great woman who lived a great life. I think your family made the right decision to let her go.<br /><br />Again, good luck.

Thank you Calli.<br /><br />Well, it turns out we did evacuate. We evacuated with my uncle to his cousins house in a small country town. We just got back today. Our house had not sustained any damage. We did not recieve alot of the terrible weather here. South East Louisiana was very lucky with this storm. We did very well over in our part of the gulf coast.<br /><br />My grandparents did not evacuate. They and their house weathered this storm very well. <br /><br />They live on the lakefront of Lake Pontchatrain. I live inland. I couldn't believe we were going to evacuate and my grandparents on the lakefront were going to stay. I did't want to evacuate. In fact, I would have loved to stay at their house during this storm. (I'm still young and stupid.)<br /><br />Also, to all those whom this storm did terribly effect, I wish you safety and luck in the aftermath.

Ack!! Ivan is coming back. It is crossing Florida into the Gulf of Mexico right now. It has a chance to reform in the gulf. It just won't stop!

From the Tropical Weather Outlook:<blockquote><pre>A WEAK LOW PRESSURE AREA...A PARTIAL REMNANT OF FORMER TROPICAL<br />DEPRESSION IVAN...IS LOCATED ABOUT 55 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF MIAMI<br />FLORIDA. THIS SYSTEM IS PRODUCING SCATTERED SHOWERS AND A FEW<br />THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SOUTHERN FLORIDA PENINSULA...THE<br />NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS...AND ADJACENT ATLANTIC WATERS. UPPER-LEVEL<br />WINDS ARE CURRENTLY UNFAVORABLE FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT TO<br />OCCUR...BUT CONDITIONS MAY BECOME MORE FAVORABLE IN THE NEXT COUPLE<br />OF DAYS AS THE SYSTEM MOVES WEST-SOUTHWESTWARD INTO THE SOUTHERN<br />GULF OF MEXICO.</pre></blockquote>

Reading a previous reply to this board I must agree with the possibility of a man-made hurricane (or 2). As far as saying that GOD would not let this happen, that is nonsense. GOD lets us kill each other any way we choose. It is our own born sin that drives us to use our freewill recklessly. And since money IS the root of all evil it is not hard to figure out that where there is money there is evil. Reagan had a shadow of a Bush lurking around causing problems and now we have a evil dumbass with another lurking shadow causing even more problems. There is pure dictatorship going on along with psychological warfare against the people to keep us divided and brainwashed and fooled. That is why our curiosity is sparked to believe in alien life, yet we have never seen an alien. This is why we are led to believe that the world is full of big bad weapons made to hurt us, even though we have never seen them. This is why we were led to believe in the Bermuda Triangle, even though it has since been proven that methane gas was behind much of it. We are being raped by our government and don't even know it. There have been many theories over the years about testing that has been done in an attempt to create hurricanes and 'natural' disasters in order to help weaken other countries so we could go in and take over 'eventually'. This has become even more obvious since the 'runt' of the litter of Bushs' has entered the White House of Republicans. There's enough information out there to lock away the whole family and disgrace the names of many past leaders who weren't so great. We just don't care anymore because it does not apply to us anymore. The Gov knows what to do and is doing just that. We are living one big Truman Show. They just love this melting pot of freedom because it keeps us all divided. Blacks will never truly love whites and vice versa. It just keeps us all not getting along while the Republicans and the cults pass around their money and their whores. At least they ar
