Senate Panel Approves NASA Plans to Send Astronauts to Asteroid, Mars. In reading the latest article here at SDC, I see that one more shuttle flight may happen. I was wondering if NASA is planning a rescue shuttle, on stand by, for the last flight. Or is it too late in the game, considering all the latest layoff in the related industries? If not then will there be enough Russian Soyuz capsules available? I also wonder if there is no "rescue shuttle" for this last mission then why was it so important for them to have one on standby in the first place. Was it just just politics?
