From spaceflightnow:

http://www.spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts125/080923tcdt/

"Reviewing emergency procedures at the Kennedy Space Center, Atlantis commander Scott Altman said today his crew lost a week of training time because of Hurricane Ike, "so you come to the question of either slipping the launch or cutting out events."

"We're still working with the whole system to balance that," he told reporters at the launch pad. "In the end, I think we're going to try to do most of our training and that, of course, may mean a bit of a slip. But it's being evaluated and we're kind of standing by."

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Monsters. The target launch date adjustments were made Wednesday during the Space Shuttle Program's Flight Readiness Review, which concludes Thursday.

Detailed assessments were presented Wednesday by Mission Operations, Flight Crew Operations, and training divisions affected by the closure of the NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, as a result of Hurricane Ike.
This is all I know now, the below e-mail was written late Sunday night by KSC planners:

.............Side A of the CUSDF in HST went into safe hold last night, this means science operations have stopped. The spacecraft is still operational but unable to operate the instruments. Attempts to recover the A side have failed so the project is now working to transfer science operations to the B side, this requires transferring the whole spacecraft from Side A to Side B so its a significant operation. Side B side has not been operated on orbit, for HST's entire on orbit service life it has operated on Side A. However, the B side was fully tested before launch.

The plan as of now is to complete the transfer to the B side later this week. The details for this will be provided later by the project, I am just preparing a brief summary until then.

If the B side comes up fine we could still launch on time so I propose that we do not postpone the FRR at this time. I do suggest that at smaller group of us get together at the FRR when we have a better understanding of the recovery efforts.

If the B side does not come on line then we clearly have no mission as there is no way to get science data down. However, the project has a spare CUSDF unit on the ground that has been tested but would have to go through some amount of retest prior to flight and we would probably need some crew training among other things before it could be manifested; again the project has to work this out. So even if the B side does not come up we can recover HST at a date later than the current servicing mission. The question is how long can we postpone the mission; I suspect that this is a hard question because the delay could be months.

Last there is always the possibility that we would decide to replace the CUSDF period.
