Looks like Atlantis is fit for re-entry. There will still be further analysis of the right OMS pod
blanket, but does not appear to be detrimental. Heat shield is in good shape all over.

Installation of Columbus is still on track.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. Cheers

Apart from the minor issue with Hans health (which appears to be cleared up now), everything is going well.

Not really. They added the extra day, which was inserted today. Thet first spacewalk starts early tomorrow afternoon your time (~ 8:45 CST, 1445 UT) or earlier with Love replacing Hans, then unless there's any further developments, back to the plan.

OMS pod focused inspection ongoing today, by tomorrow they will have evaluated the results.
To me, I'd suspect it's a non issue, but that's just my view.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Thank you. Yeah from what ive seen and heard the OMS pod doesnt seem like a threat. Its a 1.5 inch 'tear' for want of a better word, and they have said its in a place that doesnt get that hot during reentry

A couple of weeks ago, I turned to this forum for some advice on seeing a launch. My group and I just returned to Toronto (blah! blowing winds and snow) from Orlando, and had an absolutely amazing time in and around the KSC.

To cut a very long story short, we ended up watching the launch from the causeway! Yep, we made it there. Very lucky, and sooooo happy. What an amazing experience. I made the one "newby" mistake of trying to take pics instead of just watching, but anyway, it was something that will stay with me for a very long time.

I am already planning the next trip down. Thank you again to everyone who chimed in with advice a couple of weeks back.

Katrina

Why have Nasatv dropped all comms between the ISS and the ground?

"And yes, I realize that the campout to purge oxygen will not have started yet if the spacewalk is on monday. I'm still pretty sure, though that Love will do the first EVA. Well, at least I haven't heard anything to the contrary.

Campout starts in a few hours with Stan and Rex. EVA 2 will be on Wednesday with Stan/Hans and Rex. EVA 3 will be on Friday with Stan and Rex.

"Just heard on german radio that the ESA issued a statement concerning Hans Schlegel: There were some parameters causing concern yesterday, but todays examinations showed him to be in perfect health. He will take part in the second space walk."

Not sure where they got this or are just making it up. Nothing is decided at this point.

Also, I notice that the new NASA TV online setup disconnects you after a certain (rather long) amount of time.
If there's a still image on the screen, it might be best to refresh the connection.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Say between 1 1/2 and 3 hours.
Just check it once in a while.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I was connected non stop during the countdown to launch, never did that once for me. Strange

Have they had any luck with the GPC yet?

Could just be a glitch on my end, who knows.

My point is if you see a still image and have no sound, might be worth checking

But the Krell forgot one thing John. "Not sure where they got this or are just making it up. Nothing is decided at this point"

It was from Dr Volker Damann, Head of the Crew Medical Support Office at ESA's Astronaut Centre (EAC)

Nasa TV is staying connected 2 hours at the time. For some reason at the lanch time after two hours of watching Nasa TV the connection reseted itself automatically... It occured always excatly when two hours has been passed: connection dropped and automaticaly reconnected.

The default Windows Media Player ASX files contain a line of code (<DURATION VALUE="120:00.0"/>) that instructs WMP to shut down the connection after two hours. I expect this is to help save on bandwidth costs when folks turn on the stream, watch, and then walk away to do something else.

The RealPlayer streams do not do this, so that is an option if you want to avoid the timeout. However, it is very simple to save the ASX file to your computer and edit out that line of code in Notepad.

Although it doesnt appear to be a concern, clearly a full tile falling off isnt a good thing so soon after lift off. Are Nasa looking into the cause of it?
