Indeed, enormously beautiful. Always brings a tear to my eye on its way up. For me, there are few joys greater than a successful launch.<br /><br />From the onboard cameras, it looked fairly clean, with the normal debris coming off in the upper atmosphere where there is little to no risk of damage.<br /><br />Prior to launch, ground crews were discussing a "dogtag" issue which I could not quite make out over my ratty video stream, though it was made clear that it would not affect launch. Any idea what that issue was? <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

<font color="yellow">There was a 'flare' in the plume shortly before SSME shutdown and tank sep. Was that the OMS engines starting up?</font><br /><br />OMS started just after SRB SEP. The other thread had a few comments about the flames before SSME shutdown. I thought it might be due to the sun angle today, but I don't know. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

I think that the angle of sunlight has something to do with it. <br /><br />The launch appeared to be remarkably clean.
