Think "Northern Exposure" + "Twin Peaks" + "Outer Limits"

http://scifipedia.scifi.com/index.php/Eureka

In reply to:

Eureka is an original series from the SCI FI Channel, a drama about a seemingly ordinary town whose residents lead extraordinary lives. Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, the picturesque hamlet of Eureka is shrouded in secrecy. It is actually a community of scientific geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research.

The first Season was executive-produced by Andrew Cosby (Haunted) and co-executive-produced by Jamie Paglia. Cosby stood down as Executive Producer for the Second Season.

A notable casting for the Second Season would be the casting of Olivia d'Abo as Abby Carter. According to VisitEureka.net, Season 2 will include an arc involving Abby Carter, who is the wife of Jack Carter (they are now separated). The character will be introduced in the third episode of the Second Season, which premieres in July on SCI FI Channel.

Jmilsom,

You may have been away when this first showed, or it wasn't available in your place. But it is a pretty good show. It grew on me after a while, then I really enjoyed it. A regular U.S. Marshall finds himself in a town that is peopled with geniuses. A RV has its back end sliced off, and a kid is missing is how he offically gets involved. And in the end he ends up the Sheriff there by a federal decree, or something similar. The entire first season was just on Sci/fi the other day, and I was able to see some of them.

If you find it, give it a chance.

That's one of the reasons I have gotten to like the show, it is funny and entertaining, plus to see how a "regular" person, Carter, handles all those eggheads there.

I think it was the last ep that showed them trying to gain more info about the "artifact", and an explosion that occured. The scene then shifts to 4 years in the future and all the things that may have occured. But then the time frame of the real present starts to crowd into their future present time. And it ends with one of the people being killed by the blast. One of the fun things of that future time was that Zoee, Carter's daughter, was the high school's top honor student, and speaker for her class.

My question is about Beverly, and the mysterious people she is in concert and contact with, and what their tie with Section Five is all about. Could her contacts be aliens trying to get back that artifact, or who want to know more about it themselves?

My wife and I find it entertaining enough. You gotta love a show that has a gun called the "B.M.F.G. Liquidator" (Big ... Gun) in the sheriff's arsenal.

I prefer to think of it as X-Files meets Mr. Gadget

I like your comparison of X-Files and Mr. Gadget. Now, that's funny.

Whoops, I meant X-Files meets Inspector Gadget.

Also, at least some outdoor scenes were filmed here in Chilliwack. Downtown Eureka is actually part of downtown Chilliwack

I don't even want to know the derivation of "Chilliwack"
