I assume everybody here knows that Korea will be sending up their first astronaut this year, and that he's been training in Russia for the past few months along with a woman who is his backup in case he isn't able to go for some reason.

I live near a place called COEX which is a big underground mall connected to a large convention centre, so there are always international shows, investment fairs and whatnot. On the third floor they started a 'space travel experience' exhibit last month, and it'll go to around the end of January.

Next to that is a LegoLand exhibit. Guess which one is more popular?

I walk by there quite a bit and a few days ago there was a huge lineup for the space experience exhibit, about 100 people in length. In front of LegoLand there were about a dozen people. Every time I pass by there too there are always a lot of people (especially children and their families) waiting to get in. Entrance price is about $12 per person, so it's not cheap either.

I asked a guy working there whether he knew how many people had visited in total but I asked the wrong person as he had no idea. After the exhibit is over I'll try to see if I can track down someone that knows the exact number, and I'll let everybody know if I'm able to find it.

-----

http://mithridates.blogspot.com

Ah, the COEX mall, I know thee well. A lot of cool stuff happening down there.

Looks like the Korean space program is really taking off. Best of luck to Ko San and hopefully the KSLV gets off the ground as well. At the rate things are going, the KSLV will be the first part of the Angara rocket that takes flight.

So, again we are defeated. Perhaps that Korean interest indicates a match to the Bigelow Aerospace business plan of serving nations which currently lack manned spaceflight programs.
