It is now officially astronomical spring. Meteorologically, spring is the 3 calendar months of March, April, and May, so it started at the beginning of the month.
The current Solar Longitude (which decribes our position in our orbit) just clicked from 360 to 0 degrees. This is the reference position for descibing all orbits of planets, asteroids and comets. Due to the uneven length of our years under the current Gregorian calendar, date and time cannot describe our orbital position.
This is important in meteor land, since when we intersect a meteor stream is related to our orbital position (and that of the stream), not the actual date and time.
