Flyaround was beautiful... One of the solar arrays rotated 90 degrees on the beta joint during the flyby, there was a fantastic shot, from the station, of Atlantis moving past an array like the minute hand on a clock.

Wasnt a proper conference, just Leroy Cain having a chat with the PAO think it was.

Nothing much to say, everything going well and plans for landing at KSC look good, and weather is good aswell. Talking about getting Atlantis ready for the Hubble mission after it lands aswell as getting the other 2 orbitors ready for their flights

Its repeated in about 3 mins

Best thing about using the Real Player stream over the Media Player one, is that it temp saves the stream to your HD so if you miss something, aslong as the stream was active you can go back and listen to it

MC doesn't seem worried about it at this point. Could this be a real problem?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Wanna see this site looking like the old SDC uplink?

Go here to see how: SDC Eye saver

Dunno trying to find info on it now. Apparently not. It appears they could fire the jets periodically to warm them up. If this has happened earlier on in the mission and couldnt be fixed it may have been a problem, this late on tho they might be ok

From SPACE.com news article:
http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/080219-sts122-landing-prep.html

"Engineers did tackle a glitch overnight with heaters for four of Atlantis' aft-mounted vernier thrusters used for attitude control. The heaters appeared to have failed, but the glitch does not pose a safety concern for the shuttle crew's landing, NASA officials said. The shuttle has a total of 44 thrusters that make up its reaction control system.

"They are small attitude control jets and they are not used during deorbit maneuvers," said NASA mission commentator Lynette Madison. "There are no power or propellant concerns."

Mission Control radioed the Atlantis astronauts early today with an update on the glitch, adding that the crew may fly some unplanned maneuvers to keep the unheated thrusters from growing too cold."

If the thrusters are not used during entry, why are they bothering to keep them warm? Aren't they used to correctly orient the Orbiter up until entry?

They don't want to broke those, because Atlantis is needed for the Hubble servicing mission. If they broke the thrusters now the turn around time of Atlantis will be longer and more costly for the Hubble mission.

Too cold temperature can break the fuel lines and possibly something also as well.

If they froze solid, the fuel lines could be damaged, leading to a longer TAT for the next mission.

But the Krell forgot one thing John.
