Tonight I was working on a model for Orbiter Space Flight Simulator...I wanted to model the Space Island Group's Shuttle II concept. Well I got a little sidetracked, and found their Shuttle C concept interesting. I then started thinking about how this could go with the VSE and soon came to the idea of a EELV-SDHLV crossover concept.

It would use the Shuttle tank and cargo pod that we usually associate with a Shuttle C type design, however the SRBs would be replaced by liquid boosters, and for this I chose the Delta IV CCB.

This is what resulted:
http://onfinite.com/libraries/542551/7f7.jpg
http://onfinite.com/libraries/542550/926.jpg
http://onfinite.com/libraries/542576/a95.jpg

Not too bad of an idea if I do say so myself. If we are going to be modifying the Shuttle stack we might as well go all out and replace the SRBs while were at it. That way, the only SRB production will be for the SRB launcher for the CEV launch. Boeing would be happy as there would be a reason for the Delta IV Heavy. It really is a way to please everyone. And there have been studies to replace the SRBs with liquid boosters since the early days of the shuttle. Why not do it now while we have the chance.

they are not going to use shuttle-c.

they are going to do a Magnum like inline stack for the next heavy lift vehicle and the srbs will remain in either 4 or 5 segmented boosters for both the SDHLV and the CEV.

thats the say so for now...
Yeah that is what I heard as well. I just came up with this for if by some unknown reason Shuttle C resurfaced yet again.

I see no reason not to stick two SSME'S onto two stacked LH2 and LOX tanks and add two SRB's. Use this as a flyback first stage and have a second stage carried piggyback. keep the second stage in Space as a Tug and the payload Module
