Yeah it really is an excellent view. Im amazed they can get good video from a camera mounted on something travelling so fast, with little or no technical problems

Thanks, 3488.

And as for everyone's commenting on the reporting, I agree too. But I'm doing my part. I'm a newswriter in NYC, and I always request the space/science stories. I've had enough writing about Paris' jailtime or the size of Britney's rear end.

Took this pic of the launch from Space View Park in Titusville. We were just over 12 miles away according to Google Earth. Have to get closer sometime before the end of the program.... pic not too impressive though--juggling camera and binos..

I've posted my launch photos as well (I see one was already posted hereby someone in the launch thread) :)

http://www.launchphotography.com/STS-117.html

I was a stunning launch, the best daytime launch I have seen to date. Words cannot describe it sometimes. I am very happy that all those who were in attendance got to finally see one go on the first try...and a glorious one at that.

-Ben

Ben, that last one of the exhaust trail above the VAB is incredible. A completely fitting exclamation point to end one of the most perfect days in the history of Shuttle I'd wager.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

'"ISS Guess" game '

It started with Mike Lopez-Alegria. He would play movie music clips and the flight control teams had to guess. Suni Williams and the commander, Fyodor Yurchikin wanted to keep something going so they have the ISS guess where both a US movie and a Russian movie are played.
