Can they not land at White Sands New Mexico???

I may be out of the loop for a little while. Computer problems are fixed, but now have
issues of an unreliable line (again).

So I am going to give British Telecom a right b********g. This has been going
on for more than long enough.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. "if anyones interested, i made a <5 minute video of the shuttle fly-around of the ISS, and even managed to get a shot in of the shuttles shadow on the new solar panels. i have to say, watching the RCS popping through the live feed was absolutely stunning. not something you see very often. its just so beautiful to see the little bursts.

shuttle video"

Thanks usn_skwerl!
I was thinking to put on music to, the 2001: a space odyssey theme would suit it well, extraterrestrial view, space shuttle, big space station

NASA TV did their own version of that, complete with orchestra playing "Also Sprach Zarathustra" over shuttle launch video. I thought it came across as incredibly pretentious.

I don't think there is any chance of landing today at KSC, the Upper Level Low on my coastline here near JAX is forcast to drift south. Already thunderstorms are a popping.

Thanks shuttle_guy & MeteorWayne.

Atlantis would get too dusty!!!!!!!

I can see that causing problems, dust getting into the landing gear, etc.

Is it true that the Hubble Space Telescope is to get an Orion CEV docking ring
during the Shuttle Endeavour STS-125 repair / upgrade mission??

If so, it means that NASA intends on keeping Hubble going until at least the JWST.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. Just took my first hard look at the satellite and radar for KSC.

It looks like there might be a window to squeeze it in on the first landing opportunity.

If they wave off the first one, they will probably wave off the second as well IMHWO, since things look to deteriorate later.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Hi MeteorWayne, as you say, typical Florida high Summer weather, severe
convergence.

Yes, if that first window is scrubbed, the second one definately will be.

Andrew Brown.

"I suddenly noticed an anomaly to the left of Io, just off the rim of that world. This is actually a bit different.
There is a low pressure area spinning along the coast north of the cape.
See pic.

If it was offshore, I'd be concerned about tropical development

But the Krell forgot one thing John. Thanks SG. The first attempt work best for me, if the weather will cooperate, as I will be able to watch a half hour of post-landing ops before I have to head out to work.

All in all it will be a great kick-off to Friday.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

What do the shuttle crew do between now and tomorrow if the landing attempted is waved off for 24 hours? As its an unplanned delay, have they got tasks to complete or are they just sat in the shuttle just waiting for the next attempt
