WAVEOFF. The first landing opportunity of the day for Kennedy Space Center has been scrubbed due to the rainshowers around the Cape. Atlantis will circle the globe one more time while Mission Control watches to see if the weather improves in Florida. If the situation remains "no go" at the shuttle homeport for a deorbit burn at 2:52 p.m. and landing at 3:54 p.m., then NASA will have the ability to scrap the Florida plans and instead go to Edwards on that same orbit. <br /><br />http://spaceflightnow.com/shuttle/sts117/status.html

They have no chance at KSC today imho, look at all the clouds and rain.

As much as i want it down, im glad the first has been waved off. I wouldnt of been able to see the 1st deorbit burn on nasatv, the rest of the attempts i can tho <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" />

They just said they haven't decided the site yet, but they are go for fluid loading, so it looks like they are landing this orbit, they just dont know which site yet. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

Yeah, I think that Edwards is green, and they are still reviewing KSC. If KSC is no go, they'll go with Edwards. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

To switch from one to the other cannot be done at the last second. Lots of data to enter, and only 7 minutes difference in burn times<br /><br />Probably have to decide in the next 15 minutes (that's a guess), which means Edwards has the lead right now, but KSC still has a chance. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><font color="#000080"><em><font color="#000000">But the Krell forgot one thing John. Yeah, Im not sure, but it's if there will be a predicted violation at time of landing, not if their are showers at TIG, correct? <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> </div>

IIRC, if the showers are at the edge of the limit and moving away, and it looks clear upstream they can have a go at KSC.<br />I recall them doing that before.<br /><br />But I'm not an expert. <div class="Discussion_UserSignature"> <p><font color="#000080"><em><font color="#000000">But the Krell forgot one thing John.
