FRR for the next mission is next week Nasa quickly getting through these missions

Why do Nasa plan to retire Atlantis. Is it in worse shape than the other shuttles? Seems silly to only have 2 operating shuttles when another one is still up to the job

Having a slight go at the media in the Post Landing Conference. About time!

What do you mean?

One of the Nasa guys (cant remember which) was saying Nasa are in a no win situation. Whenever they have a long debate about a particular issue (e.g the RCC tiles on Discovery) the media moan that it isnt safe to fly, how they have been made to wait for a conference and the other usual crap they come out with. Equally if they didnt have debates and just launched regardless, the media would be all over Nasa for not thinking about the crew safety.

Did anyone ask how long it will take to analyze the FOD sample?

Sorry i had it on in the background so wasnt paying full attention. Although during landing they did say that would be one of the first things off the shuttle so the technical people can analyse it straight away.

I cant imagine it would take too long to find out what is it

It appears that this thread has passed the post limit threshold. Actually, it crossed it sometime yesterday, but I wasn't paying enough attention to the thread length. I'm going to lock this thread. If folks still want to discuss STS-120, go ahead and open a new thread; otherwise, since the mission is over, I'm not going to automatically open a new one. Odds are, everything's been said anyway.

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly . . . timey wimey . . . stuff." -- The Tenth Doctor, "Blink"
