That was a beautiful launch, plus the wind was coming from the East, so the sound carried very well. I was up in the viewing tower at Chain of Lakes, maybe the sound is better because it's 50 feet up in the air?

No

Edit: To elaborate, only 6 pieces of foam loss were seen, all small, and all after SRB sep, when the velocity should not present a problem.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. I did see one good sized chunk fly off, but it was well past SRB sep. Looked like it might have hit the chine of the starboard wing, but nothing spectacular.

Vote Libertarian

I dont like the Post Launch Conference, as most of the time the media ask questions that arent relevant to the actually launch or the mission. In this case it was the RCC again that was covered at the FRR conference

Beautiful launch, congratulations to all involved. I found it interesting to see Melroy throw on a pair of sunglasses inside her helmet, I don't think I've seen an astronaut do that before. Looked very 'Top Gun'.

Who is this superhero? Henry, the mild-mannered janitor ... could be!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bring Back The Black!

Generally about 2 days.

For this launch the ISS was over the Atlantic at launch time, so the shuttle will be catching up for a day or so.

Docking is scheduled for ~ 8:35 AM Thursday morning.

But the Krell forgot one thing John. The video of the ET floating after ET sep was really beautiful, and I was surprised by the amount of debris floating around in between the orbiter and the ET. Also the gas jet plumes coming out of the ET were impresive.

"I enjoyed watching this launch earlier, i just have one question, how long does teh shuttle take to get to the ISS and dock?"

Just to be clear - in this case about 2 days, but that is not an absolute. We strive to launch with the ISS altitude and pahse such to allow a flight day 3 rendezvous - but it could be a FD 4 (you just lose a day of docked time).

Nice bright high pass of the ISS over Houston this evening followed a few minutes later by Discovery.
