I am also planning for my QO duty at the NJAA tonight (Weather permitting) plan to show the public Mars (along with the latest Phoenix pix) next to the Beehive. What a great binocular image that will be!! ~ 30 degrees elevation in west.

About 40 degrees in west will be Saturn and Regulus, with an Iridium flare beneath.

I will also look for unlisted Iridiums 9 and 18 minutes before and after the -2 mag one listed. Had an interesting experiment Friday morning during my meteor session.

Saw 3 unlisted Iridiums separated by the expected 9 minutes. The brightest was only +1 mag, which is why it wasn't listed on the flare page. The other two were +2.

ISS has a pass at 11:19 PM, after the public is supposed to leave, but I will wait. Unfortunately, I doubt I will have current info as far as visibility of the Orbiter, since I have to leave about 2 hours post launch, but I'll see if I can take a shot at it.

Wayne, starting to pace the floor.

But the Krell forgot one thing John.
I guess bacon and eggs will do once absorbed :)

Interesting side note

If you look at the "Height of the ISS" at Heavens-Above, notice how slowly the orbit of the ISS is decaying. It seems to my eye to be the slowest decay in the last year, except for perhaps a short period at the end of last July.

http://heavens-above.com/IssHeight.aspx?lat=40.667&lng=-74.896&loc=High+Bridge&alt=104&tz=EST

This would indicate that the ISS will be a few km higher than they had planned for. I'm sure it's well within the margins, but it points how how the whole of space exploration needs to be flexible. It is likely a result of the extremely quiet state of the sun, hence our atmosphere has shrunk a bit.

But the Krell forgot one thing John.
